The calls from collectors stop and after a few months the chapter 7 is filed and behind you. See a good lawyer first like Mrs. Shanks as some of these private debt consolation/settlement companies will try to convince you that you don't qualify for bankrupcy or you will lose your home/car. This in my opinion is a scare Tackett to try to make a $ off you. I was told this and it certainly was not true. I was able to file chapter 7 lost nothing I owned, stayed in my home and kept my car. Call Mrs. Shanks or research the bankruptcy law before visiting the so called free places just waiting to help.
