Terrible Attorney

Worst attorney I've dealt with in my life. Was referred to him by my sister who works with his aunt. I had a fairly simple divorce that I needed assistance with. He's incredibly unresponsive. Takes him days to return an email. Once he called me to yell at me because in an email I wrote to him I told ...him I needed his legal advice quickly. He wanted to lay out the "ground rules" on how I'm allowed to communicate with him. He told me if I wanted him to be more responsive, I could pay him $50,000/month and he'd only focus on me. He drafted the original petition in about 30 minutes by changing the names on an old petition he already had. I had to point out an error that still referred to the other case. I prepared and sent him the inventory and appraisal without any assistance from him. When we finally got to the mediation, he just wanted to get out of the there. Never fought for anything. Just wanted to type up the settlement agreement in real time so he could be done with it. He told me he really hoped it could finish soon so he could get to the golf course. He always gave me the impression that I wasn't worth his time. My little divorce just wasn't that important to him. In my opinion, he added literally zero value to my divorce and caused my settlement to be worse than it would have been had I been represented by competent counsel. My strong advice is to steer clear of this guy.

I am sorry that this person feels the way that they do, but I responded to 77 emails during this client's case that was less than sixty days long. Every case is important to me, and if this one was not I certainly would not have resolved it in under 60 days. This client was upset when I did not respond within a couple of hours to an email. I called the client after business hours to explain that I was in court and in mediation that day, and simply could not respond immediately, and my immediate response was not even necessary as it was pertaining to an agreed divorce decree that I had drafted because the case was to be agreed. After the conversation, and after the case was not agreed by the other side, the client actually reinstated his retainer, and chose to have me continue to represent him. The simple fact is that I went over and above what most attorneys would have done in this case by not only responding to an excessive amount of emails, but also by resolving the case in less than 60 days, and saving the client tens of thousands of dollars in attorney's fees. I have actually spoken with Mr. Friant, and have answered some of his questions about his lawsuit since he posted this review, and I believe that we have resolved any issues that he may have had. I strive to provide the best service possible to each and every client, and to communicate effectively.

Glad I hired him

Mark helped me out in a bad time in my life and I'm thankful for his guidance and knowledge. He was available and had a solution when I called. My son is doing much better and is happy thanks to Mark helping me get custody of him. If you want an attorney that is honest and available then Mark is your... guy.

Excellent

Creative and punctual on child custody case. Mr. Childress took time to understand details of these matters and identified several avenues to explore in efforts to get custody of my girls. Very fair and honest with high standards fueled by integrity and dedication. After a few short weeks custody sui...t was won, and much appreciated. More than pleased with this attorney.

Best Part About My Divorce

Mark is incredibly kind and upfront about everything. He was always responsive to my emails and was quick to answer any questions. He made me feel like a priority, laughed with me and reminded me of my ex's loss when I was overwhelmed. I recommend him highly!!
