Awful Judge

Gave my child’s father overnight visits after I explained that he is a predator and also abused me physically and mentally our relationship. She yelled at me, called me a liar, and was extremely rude the entire time.

Absolute corruption corrupts absolutely

Had to go to two different hearings and the second hearing I was late because I had a flat tire when I woke up to leave. Had called the attorney general's office multiple times the week before the hearing to inform them that they needed to do their job according to family code 231.1015 they refuse to... acknowledge or do anything to set the case aside and do their job claimed that that's not how it works or that we can't do that. Would not direct me to somebody who would be able to dismiss the case or set aside on their behalf for not doing their job. And just said you got to talk to the judge when you go to your next hearing. I explained that this judges a psychopath from the little interaction that was observed and demonstrated by judge Jenkins. Truly a scumbag of human being. Berates and attempts to humiliate parent(s). So again when in person in the lobby of the Court area speaking to AG clerks and again showing them the law and asking for them to do their job. I was told that there had already been a warrant sign because I was late and that I could talk to the judge to see if she could withdraw it. So I waited over an hour for her to get back from lunch and while riding out a motion to strike and halfway through writing it, I was called into the courtroom by one of the AG clerks. And upon approaching the bench just as I did two weeks earlier at the other hearing and then a bailiff came up to me and was pushing and moving me to put my hands behind my back as he stated put your hands behind your back. So I had no chance to talk and despite my verbal and pointing out the motion that's in my hand for a motion to strike the procedural order of practice as it pertains to a motion for enforcement is that the court must hear the motion to strike before moving on the motion for enforcement. So besides the fact that I should have never even been there twice because the attorney general refused to do their job. I was jailed for a week. And had my car impounded $450 to get out. But all to come back to court and shackles the next week and be told to keep paying the same amount I've been paying because I don't owe child support I pay my child support. And I've already been paying towards the amount that I was perceived to be behind on , all because the AG refused to follow the law according to 231.1015 .. and because Jenkins is a complete psychopath and also is unconcerned with procedure or law. She needs to be out of this position it's unbelievable the amount of damage she must have done to so many families

Best Judge Ever! God Sent!

I cannot express how pleased I am with this judge. She truly advocates for the children. She will forever have my support. I absolutely cannot wait to lobby to keep her in office.

Room for improvement (Judge Cherami Jenkins)

I think Judge Cherami Jenkins can improve the way she administers the hearings in IV-D court. Maybe I caught her on a bad day but for my hearing, it appeared as if she was not happy to be there. Maybe this is the treatment some fathers get or people who represent themselves, I dont know. She seemed ...angry but it was not surprising because one of the AG Administrators who works with this court, Attorney John F. Cashman had attempted to force a narrative and conclude the matter before getting to the judge. Mr Cashman was also very rude and even wanted me to verbally commit to signing the court order before I could even get a copy to review it. I thought that was unusual. He then went on to indicate on the court document that I had declined to sign it. This gentleman was even reluctant to help me with an email address when I asked him to confirm. Maybe he reserves his respect for others but there was little for me. I would have been happy with mere professionalism. During the hearing, it seemed as if the judge had taken a side already or at least more open to hear from one side. It is one thing to be unhappy with a judgement, I am sure this will always happen but it is another to not be allowed to be heard. The lesson I learned was that the truth alone is not sufficient in a courtroom because you may never be given the chance to expose it. It seemed expedience was their top priority. I would just like to encourage the court to be fair and not treat some fathers as if they are criminals. At least, allow them to be heard. I think if not warranted, the intimidation, the yelling, the bullying, the shutting down, the bias, and prejudice should be minimized in the court system especially when adults are debating the best interest of children. Towards the end of the hearing, it was unfortunate to learn that the Judge had assumed, all along, that the kids involved in the case were a boy and a girl as she put it and that was not the case. We may not always like the judgements we get but the hearings that get us to those judgments must be a fair process.

ON YOUR SIDE

I obtained Ms.Jenkins services from a referral within a firm she practices out of. Ms. Jenkins made this stressful process so easy. I did not even have to talk to anyone during trial. The case ended up being dismissed with the truth coming to light. She didn't have me sit and talk for hours and hours... on end about my incident, she instead was straight to the point simply gathering all of the facts and pressing on. She was professional and timely in all her work. I would highly recommend Ms. Jenkins to anyone who needs her services.
