Biography
Lauren Powell is the founder and President of Powell Law Offices, P.C. For more than 20 years, she has represented individuals and small business owners in difficult legal matters. In addition to her client work, she has also served, when her schedule permits, as an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Texas School of Law.
Lauren is a respected speaker and panelist at local and national legal conferences. She is known for her strong reputation, deep knowledge of the law, and determined courtroom advocacy. That foundation was evident early in her career. During law school, she served on the Moot Court Executive Board and as Director of Outside Competitions. She was also Managing Editor of the Journal of Law in Society. Her leadership experience began even earlier as President of the Wayne State University Student Alumni Association, and she was also affiliated with Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society in political science.
Her practice includes divorce, child custody, child support, modification, enforcement, family law, bankruptcy, and estate planning. Over the course of her career, Lauren has developed a strong command of financial and business issues, which supports her work in divorce matters involving high value assets, business division concerns, and tax-related disputes. She also handles jurisdictional conflicts, post-divorce modifications, parental alienation claims, and other complex matters.
Lauren is deeply committed to helping clients move through stressful legal situations with clarity and confidence. She believes effective representation requires sound negotiation and a willingness to fight when necessary. Her goal is always to help clients pursue the strongest possible resolution while reducing the burden the legal process places on their lives. Great lawyer!
Lauren made us feel comfortable about having to file bankruptcy. She explained all of our options to us, and was very effective in her representation of us.
