I am Board-Certified in Immigration and Nationality Law and have been the Managing Partner of David Swaim & Associates, formerly Tidwell, Swaim & Associates, since 1991. We have represented over 45,000 cases with a 95% success rate on behalf of individuals, employers, companies, and families that covered all areas of immigration law. We have developed many of the most innovative techniques for H-1 and labor certification cases, as well as created immigration procedures at dozens of companies throughout the United States. Our success is rooted in personalized solutions for each client, specifically designed to help reach their desired status/citizenship goals and achieve a better life in the United States.
I pursued Immigration Law because it is a practice in U.S. law that deals primarily with people and not money. There is a special feeling when you are able to overcome the power and resources of the Federal Government, whether the Immigration Service, Department of Labor or US State Department, to force the Government to follow the law and treat people fairly and justly.
My Associates and I are known for our extensive depth of experience and are recognized throughout the legal community and courts by our proven, industry-leading practices, care, and responsiveness. Most importantly, we are known by our clients to successfully navigate and expedite their case through an ever-changing legal and political environment. I am also one of the few attorneys in Texas authorized to represent both the University of Texas system and the Texas A&M system. What I have hoped for my clients all these years is for them to achieve their professional and personal goals for a better life.
Please visit to learn more about our history, success stories, and more information on why we continue to be an industry leader in all aspects of immigration law. We welcome all immigration cases; it is all we have ever done. Join our family of over 20,000 happy clients!

Professional, Honest and Helpful
Tidwell, Swaim & Associates, handled my case in a very professional manner. During my marriage case the paralegal continuously kept us informed and always had time to answer our questions. I would recommend David and his law firm to anyone who is looking for a great immigration attorney.

Later I found out that he has a much better Avvo rating compared to some other...

To be avoided!
I hired Mr. Swaim to help with my permanent residency application. Before signing the contract, he seemed polite and knowledgeable. However, AFTER HAVING SIGNED HIS CONTRACT when I needed to communicate with him, he was no longer available to talk to me directly, or the few times I could reach him he...
I am very sorry to read about your experience with Tidwell, Swaim. For over 38 years we have worked extremely hard to make sure every client feels like they are the only client we have. If these facts are true we clearly did not meet this goal in your case. However, I must note that we have no record of a case like this. And we have no record of a client named Douglass, although I realize the reviewer may have chosen to keep his/her name confidential. Finally, I would certainly be willing to discuss these issues if Douglass decides to contact me. Even one client who is not completely satisfied with our services is one too many.

Simple questions with few answers
David Swaim Jr., need a serious customer service training, he lost his grip several times over a simple questions that we need a simple yes and no answers. And when he answer a question he answer them with phrases like and I quote "I believe we have reached a point where the tail has been wagging the...
Since AVVO does not provide names for anyone who writes these reviews, it is difficult to respond to these allegations. Everyone in our firm treats client service as our number goal, especially myself since my name is on the business. We cannot determine who this person is or what actually happened. I can assure everyone who reads this that I have never referred to a "tail wagging a donkey", nor its more customary US term, a tail wagging a dog. David Swaim
