Great lawyer!!

I searched tirelessly for a lawyer to take on my complex case. Micheal was the only lawyer to not only reach out to me but take the case at very reasonable price. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. I would highly recommend him!

AVVO Warning Unfair

I hired Mr. Rubin for a high dollar property and custody case. I was conflicted at first because his reviews on Thumbtack and Yelp were almost all positive. Since this was my life we were talking about I did a lot of research before I decided to hire someone. I contacted AVVO to see why it warned th...at Mr. Rubin should be approached with extreme caution. There response was due to his history with the bar. I asked what issues did he have and they did not know. It was the mere fact that he had been disciplined at some point. AVVO also told me not to rely on their rating as the sole reason to hire any lawyer and that they do not consider client reviews in its rating. I also called the Bar to find out the specific issues Mr. Rubin had the bar and left with no concerns. I have learned that a lawyer can be disciplined for very trivial to very serious issues. Mr. Rubin's issues with the bar were trivial (in my opinion) as they dealt with timely sending of bills and the amount of time to refund a retainer. None of the complaints had anything to do with his ability as a lawyer. His issues with the bar were also at time when he was sick as he explained to me in person. Bottom line is that I am so lucky and happy that I hired Mr. Rubin. The client reviews about how hard he works, his tenacity in the court room etc, were all true. I am glad I did not allow some "rating" prevent me from hiring him. My ex husband's lawyer was from some big law firm and charged him exorbitant fees. Mr. Rubin got me custody of the kids plus more than 50% of the marital estate and alimony and his fees were less that what my ex was charged. Thank you Mr, Rubin for all that you did for me and my family.

AVVO has chosen to remove any so called warning about hiring me. It appears that they agree that my reviews are what client's should be relying upon when deciding to hire me. Michael

If you are in a divorce-hire THIS guy! Please read this and use common sense and be fair.

I am seeing the reviews on AVVO for the first time and I would just say please consider the fact the worst of these are ANONYMOUS - give me a break. First name only isn't anonymous enough? I will try to be as frank as I can. Michael does an EXCELLENT job-especially in the courtroom. Unlike some re...views I see on here- I can tell you that he was excellent and I am so thankful I hired him. I am the FATHER-who now is sole-conservator of both my children thanks to Mr. Rubin. In addition, my contested divorce which was filed by my ex-spouse began in Nov 2013 and we have a ruling from the Judge which should be signed in a finalized decree in 2 weeks (June 30, 2017). That is over 3 and 1/2 years (note that is DURING the alleged "issues" posted about on here). I hired Michael on what would end up being a difficult divorce I would not wish on anyone. Maybe they will let this in- michaela1212 at hotmail (dot) com. I will answer in email or speak on phone with anyone who wishes to hear from a real person who actually hired Michael Rubin. At least until or if I become overwhelmed with emails of course. I do not always check this email address immediately but I do frequently within a day or two. I did not know Michael at all but he responded to my story/plea on Thumbtack after I had already consulted with other attorneys who basically TOLD me how it would play out without really knowing or listening to any facts. I was frustrated because it seemed as though they were more wanting to compromise (maybe because I was the father seeking sole custody - I don't know) Well, I do not compromise regarding my children when I know it is not right for them. Michael was the only one I talked to who seemed willing to push for what I wanted rather than what would be easier in court. With Michael's help exposing those facts, it demonstrated the issues to the court and I am now sole-conservator. My story is long and there will not be room here for much but I urge you to please consider Michael Rubin. He was the only one who actually seemed to listen to what I was saying. Is that because he cared or because he was just seeking my business? I could not care less, it is what I needed - to know and feel my attorney would actually try to understand the issues, that this was not simply routine, and those issues would ultimately lead to sole custody of the children for myself. I hired him and he was fantastic. Great and lucky decision on my part because I really had no clue what to do when this started. That being said- if you are in a contested divorce with children and you do nothing but leave it all to ANY attorney then you are foolish. You need to WORK to develop your case and provide the evidence of your claims - the attorney is there to PRESENT YOUR case as best they can. Michael was the best in the courtroom where it counts most - very sharp. If you are fighting for your children that is what you want, don't nitpick some of the other junk like I saw in a couple reviews here. A very brief overview- my case included everything you could think of. Adultery, two CPS cases, Psychologists for adults and Social Studies for children and DNA tests for father of new child delivered during divorce (at least three!) LOL. Supervised visitation, etc. I also ended up on life support (we are talking respirator, the works) in the hospital for medical issues (or you could call it stress. lol) near the end while the Final was scheduled and had to be delayed by me once after wife had delayed it numerous times. The point I am making is my case was long, complicated, and difficult - and Michael came through 100%. You might be hurting yourself or your case if you do not at the very least consult with Michael to get your own feel for whether he is right for you or your case. One additional thing - there was some negative comment I saw someone posted regarding his paralegal......total rubbish. This person has done a great job and been very helpful.

No concerns here!

Mr. Rubin explained in full his past issues with bar and I was 100% convinced that there is absolutely no reason to be cautious or concerned about hiring him. I learned how Avvo comes up with its rating and it does not consider client reviews. Michael did an amazing job for me. I am glad I did not... let avvos rating stop me from hiring him.

updated on 09/07/2016

Michael’s comment:

“All the discipline is a result of having to shut down my practice. It is complicated shutting down an practice and mistakes were made. Prior to this-I have never been in trouble with the law or any other organization. Since starting to work again-I have limited my case load and if you see my reviews on Thumbtack you will see that my clients are very satisfied with my work. These incidents occurred in late 2012-early 2013. Nothing has occurred since then. Michael Rubin”

Public Reprimand issued in TX, 2015

updated on 09/07/2016

Public reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.

Michael’s comment:

“In December of 2012 I became very ill and had to shut down my practice. I did not work for 8 months. Mistakes were made in closing the practice. None of the discipline had anything to do with my competency as a lawyer. These events occurred in 2012 and early 2013 but the cases were not resolved until 2015. I would ask that you consider my client reviews here and on other sites. Please also call me to discuss any concerns you may have. Thanks Michael Rubin”
