He was handling my divorce and in the beginning he was great. I paid him what he asked and then he got the court to agree that my husband would pay any remaining fees. I was in a motorcycle wreck that took a couple years to completely heal from then I got sick ended up in the hospital with double p...neumonia and was sent home with oxygen not able to get off the couch for more than 3 minutes at a time… sick for a year and a couple months before I got a diagnosis. During all of my down time, my friend was taking care of my stuff. The attorney said he couldn’t get ahold of my ex and was supposed to file the final decree of divorce. I found out just looking online that my husband and my name was on a docket for Dallas but there was no date. I immediately sent emails to Michael and sent him a text as well. He responded to the text and wanted to know who I was so I told him. The next day (Sunday) he sent me a text saying “I am withdrawn from your case and have been for a while… good luck.” To which I replied you quit and didn’t tell me. And he said “I withdrew and followed the procedures…..good luck ………” HE DID NOT TELL ME ANYTHING! He did not email me anything. He didn’t even file my final divorce decree so now there is a possibility that it will be dismissed and this divorce was NOT CHEAP! I can not even get him to send me the paperwork so I can see about filing it myself. I thought about it being dismissed but my soon to be ex and I are ready for it to just be over with. I’ve left 4 messages with his office today trying to get them to send me the final decree of divorce as well as whatever Michael said he did to withdraw from the case and no one will contact me. He quit responding to emails a LONG time ago. Just stopped. He’s had I don’t know how many legal secretaries since I started my divorce. He is Schizophrenic and I don’t think he is doing a very good job at representing his clients. Quitting on one has to be bad for business.

Attorney Rubin will ask for a retainer then within a couple of weeks request more money then within a couple weeks request even more money then Rubin filed with the courts after messing up your entire case that his attorneys fees were less than the first retainer and you will never receive the remain...der of your retainer back. I should’ve done a better Internet search on his reviews before hired him because this exact situation has happened to a lot of people that have hired him. Document filings that should take 30 to 60 days will take a year to year and a half. You will not receive phone calls or emails back you will not be prepped for hearings and in the end your case will be so messed up you will have to hire a different attorney to try to fix your case. You’ll get phone calls late at night from Attorney Rubin‘s mother saying that your case has to be postponed this will happen numerous times. Save yourself a nightmare experience any attorney is better than hiring attorney Rubin. All he wants is money and more money and more money will not show up for court will not do your filings will mess up your case will not send you billing and will not return any of your unused money.

I hired Michael after reading most of his reviews on Avvo and seeing how long he’s been in family law. When hiring a lawyer I wanted someone who has been in the industry for a long time, has experienced all types of cases and knows the law like the back of his/her hand... and thats Michael. When I... started the divorce process, my ex didn’t have a lawyer and wanted to divorce amicably. Michael and his team were willing to work with both of us while keeping my best interest (being that I hired him and he warned me things could go south quickly). Naively, I was being very loose with the divorce decisions; not taking half of the 401k, not doing standard visitation and not wanting child support but asking for support to pay for my kids private school. Michael and his team still explained to me everything I was legally entitled to but I made decisions based on thinking I was amicably divorcing. Well that was short lived. My ex got a lawyer without telling me and Michael notified me immediately. My Ex’s lawyer came back with an even worse schedule for my kids and denying paying for private school tuition. After months of not paying me child support, not agreeing to anything Michael sent or just coming back with dumb questions. Michael ended up getting me everything I asked for in the beginning, a child support amount higher than standard child support that pays for my kids private school tuition cost, back pay for the months of missed child support and the original schedule I proposed. Michael really fights for you. You will receive emails from him day and night and you will get a same day replied. He has a fiesty attitude and demolishes any other lawyer that is trying to treat his client unfair. Being that this was my first time going to court or hiring a lawyer and I don’t have family in town to advise me and go to appointments with me, I felt really safe with Michael because he really has yours and your kids best interest. He puts things in perspective, making you realize you should request everything you want but not everything is worth fighting for. BUT he will still fight for you if you want/need him to. I will recommend Michael to anyone I know going through a divorce or in need of family law representation

I hired Michael as my my divorce attorney. My soon to be ex and I had a certain plan within which we were going to get a divorce. An ugly event occurred Involving my children, therefore I found Myself scrambling and researching to find someone to help me. I reached out to Michael and immediately he ...came to my assistance. I’ve lived under a narcissistic, emotionally and verbally abusive husband for years. I didn’t even know it was occurring. He not only manipulated me but Also my children. A narcissist in The public eye is loved and respected. That was not the case at home. How does one protect and defend herself and children against one thar has such Control, power and connections? I’m still in the process of working through the divorce with Michael. The family situation was complicated and we ended up having a closed court hearing for a few hours with multiple cross examinations. For the first time in my life, my ex was humbled, speechless. He used his eloquent words and charisma to answer questions. Maybe that would have worked elsewhere? But with Michael that absolutely did not happen.. My ex was his own worst enemy and Michael was able to definitively show the judge The harm he was doing to his family. My ex was brought to his knees and actually was unable to communicate for days. He needs psychological help and Michael is working towards the betterment of his health despite his wrongdoings. I’m currently waiting for temporary orders. Michael covered all angles and guided me during a time of confusion. I was just realizing I was a victim of abuse without fully realizing it for years. I will Finish this review as the case closes. No matter how nervous or scared you may be as you walk into that court room, take comfort because Michael will take control. I walked out of the hearing confident and amazed For he accomplishes what no one else could.

Michael represented me in my divorce almost two years ago. Very little could be decided out of court so we ended up going to trial. I was dealing with all of the emotional aspects of the divorce and relied on Michael completely. I was very nervous for the trial because my ex-husband was also an ...attorney and he had that advantage over me. Being in a court room was quite comfortable for him and not for me. Michael calmed my nerves and gave me the confidence to answer truthfully and be well prepared. My ex was not very cooperative with providing all the documentation that was provided, didn’t show up for our first trial that was set, but that didn’t stop Michael. He was well prepared, pouring over countless emails and financial statements in the last minute. He got my everything I asked for: maximum child support, spousal support, custody, debt that was in both of our names was required for him to pay. So in all, I was absolutely pleased with the outcome. My absolutely favorite thing about Michael was his relentless approach during trial. When he got my ex-husband on the stand he asked him the hard questions and DID NOT BACK DOWN when my ex tried to use his own experience as a trial attorney. The judge even stepped in at one point and told my ex, that he might be use to being in a courtroom, but this was not HIS courtroom today, it was hers and he needed to answer the questions. Some refer to Michael as a shark, but I feel that term is a negative way to describe him, instead he gets the job done and he does it very well and will not back down. I wasn’t prepared for the fact that Eventhough the divorce is final and there is a decree, I would have to continue to fight for the things in the decree. But Michael has been there to answer questions for me. Unfortunately we moved back to Colorado or I would have taken my ex back to court with Michael. Thank you for a job well done.
