Do not hire

Never would recommend him to anyone. Does not have his clients best Interest and you pretty much have to tell what to do for you. He’s not a bulldog, his just in it for the money and overcharges for the little of work he does. Worst mistake I ever made is that I hired him.

I do not know any client by the name of WIll. So will if your would provide your full name so I can properly respond to your allegations. Just making vague allegations with not providing your name makes it impossible for me to respond. If this Eric Busby--sir the issues you are having with your divorce decree and your ex wife are not fault of this office. We reached an agreement in mediation and we have been more than happy to answer and questions you had regarding the decree since it was entered. It is not our fault you do not like the answers or now regret what you agreed to in mediation. People need to take accountability for the their own actions. In this day and age it is so easy to blame others for issues in your life. Be that is may--whomever this I wish them the best of luck.

Nightmare Experience

I would never on any day recommend this attorney. I hired him and quickly changed to a new attorney. I wish I had known of the disciplinary actions, I would have submitted my personal experience of him & his practices. He asked that i sign a blank retainer, confirming that i could trust him this was ...their usual procedure. It was my first time needing representation and I thought he's here to help me, so I signed it. He did not represent me when it was my day in court because he was representing another client before a different judge. My court/judge waited on him as I tried multiple times to get his attention and when he finally showed up, the judge was going to reset the hearing date. He interrupted the judge by saying, he could do his portion in 10 minutes or less. Needless to say, he filled in the contract with an amount double what he quoted me and he got paid 10K. Then he put my case into a motion that my new attorney had to work to get changed costing me even more money. He never returned any calls and when I went to his office to retrieve the paperwork I had given him, he put me off for days and then copied it over and over until I could hardly carry it. Remember, one, ten minute hearing before a judge. When my new attorney requested my information from him, known as professional courtesy, details of requests, hearings, etc. He was still being notified by the court of my upcoming court date because he was still the attorney of record, he waited until after that hearing to send the paperwork. Again my new attorney, had to go around things instead of just a straight shot. This man was paid for nothing, because there was no legal representation. A true case in point, he will reap what he has sown-no ethics whatsoever. He just took advantage of an already difficult situation.

I have absolutely no idea who this. It does not sound like an actual client. When someone posts a review anonymously it is very hard to respond because a person can post whatever they want whether it is true or not. I would ask whomever this to post their real name so I can address these unfounded allegations. That's the problem with these sites a person can post anything with no proof with no repercussions. I get most of my cases on thumbtack where I have over 95 reviews with a 4.7 out of 5 star rating. Michael Rubin

DO NOT HIRE!!!!

Michael is very condescending to his OWN CLIENTS, who are paying him alot of money. DO NOT HIRE HIM! I had to hire someone else to complete my divorce over michael's incompetence & bad, condescending attitude.

It is really hard to respond to anonymous reviews. Based on the reviews on this site I am either amazing or plain horrible. I think I have addressed each negative review and I will address this one as well. I have a very good idea who this is. I represented this person for over two years and got her sole custody of her children, alimony, attorney fees etc. We are currently in a fee dispute as she does not wish to pay me what I am owed for all the work I did. I refused to draft a decree that did not accurately reflect the Court's order and that upset the client. She further wanted child support until her youngest was 21 which is not proper under Texas law. I did finish her case and got her divorced. I understand fee disputes will happen but that does not give one permission to post blatantly false statements. AVVO doers nothing to verify the truth of these negative comments and I have to hope that future clients will rely on my positive (non-anonymous reviews) and review on other sites. Thanks Michael Rubin

DDN'T BOTHER!!!

I received Michael's name from Thumbtack. Initially, he sound very reliable. When I called to make an appointment for consultation, his paralegal would not come in earlier because she has to drive and might get stuck in traffic. When I made an appointment for consultation, I received an email from... his paralegal that was not grammatically correct and she forgot the attachment. I later received a random email from Michael asking me who I was. Obviously, he and his paralegal do not talk to each other. These were small little red flags that got me worried. Whenever I cancelled the meeting, I received an email from Michael basically saying that I was wrong because I was not choosing him over some grammatical errors and unprofessionalism. I have seen some previous reviews about his incompetence and even misspelling kids names on court documents. I didn't even hire him and he left a bad taste in my mouth. Thank God I didn't hire him. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ONE!!!

I know who this and would like to address each complaint directly. Appointment-Our hours are Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday by appointment, If a client requests to come in before 9:00 a.m, it not unreasonable to explain that we may not be able to make it. My legal assistant lives in Tarrant County. She was just being honest with the client that logistically that a before hours appointment may have some issues. The email had a few grammatical errors but not to the point to where it was not clear as to what we needed. We also immediately sent another email to client with the attachment. These things happen. I always send to paralegal if it is a name I do not recognize that has set up an appointment. I talk to a lot of prospective clients and sometimes I forget who I have spoken too. Lastly--I asked the client if the grammatical errors outweighed all the positive review I had received on Thumbtack and other sites and I wished her well and good luck with her case. We are human and after practicing for over 20 years I am sure that we have misspelled kids names in pleadings but nothing we did ever affected the results that the clients received. Finally she thanks G-d for not hiring me. Again people make mistakes and it seems this client seems to think that if everything is not perfect that you are incompetent or unprofessional. Grossly Incompetent

I noticed all his so called great reviews have since disappeared! My experience was a nightmare. Mr. Rubin showed up late for hearings. Sometimes he didn't bother to show up for court hearings. He refused to file documents in a timely manner. He even lost documents relevant to my hearing. He rarely i...f ever prepared me for court. He just didn't care about my family's well being. When I was fed up I called the state bar. State bar warned me about his disciplinary action when I called to ask about how to file a grievance against him. Then there's his grossly incompetent paralegal. She is worse than he is. She will not take your calls. She has no problem billing you for her screw ups.I won't be surprised when his license is suspended from allowing him to practice law.

I have racked my brain but I have no idea who this is. I would ask this person to please call my office so we can address these concerns. I can not think of any case where I showed up late for hearings or failed to show up to Court altogether. If I did not appear for a hearing I am sure that I notified the Court and opposing counsel of the reason why and got the hearing reset. I do not recall losing documents on any case nor do I recall refusing to file relevant documents. Sometime clients want something filed that is not relevant or frivolous. Until I figure out if this is a real client--I have to presume that it is not existing client but some opposing party or attorney trying to degrade me. Again if this a real client please call my office to discuss or at least provide your name. Thanks Michael Rubin

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2024.

Disability Suspension issued in TX, 2024

updated on 06/13/2024

Disability Suspension means the attorney has lost his or her license to practice law as a result of a mental or physical disability.

Fully Probated Suspension issued in TX, 2015

updated on 09/07/2016

Fully probated suspension means an attorney is technically suspended but may still practice law. The State monitors the lawyer's activities during the suspension to make sure that he or she does not repeat the behavior.

Michael’s comment:

“All the discipline is a result of having to shut down my practice. It is complicated shutting down an practice and mistakes were made. Prior to this-I have never been in trouble with the law or any other organization. Since starting to work again-I have limited my case load and if you see my reviews on Thumbtack you will see that my clients are very satisfied with my work. These incidents occurred in late 2012-early 2013. Nothing has occurred since then. Michael Rubin”

Public Reprimand issued in TX, 2015

updated on 09/07/2016

Public reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior. Details of the infraction are made part of the public record.

Michael’s comment:

“In December of 2012 I became very ill and had to shut down my practice. I did not work for 8 months. Mistakes were made in closing the practice. None of the discipline had anything to do with my competency as a lawyer. These events occurred in 2012 and early 2013 but the cases were not resolved until 2015. I would ask that you consider my client reviews here and on other sites. Please also call me to discuss any concerns you may have. Thanks Michael Rubin”
