Chris Johnson joined McCathern as an Associate Attorney in 2015 and currently practices in all areas of civil litigation, including employment litigation and “dram shop” cases. In his role as an associate licensed in Texas and based in the Dallas office, he represents many prominent businesses, which include several Fortune 500 companies. Additionally, as an award-winning former prosecutor, Chris will work on criminal matters from time-to-time.
With a desire to be the most prepared lawyer in the courtroom, Chris developed his reputation as a fierce advocate and respected trial attorney while working as Assistant District Attorney for Dallas County. In addition to handling bench trials and over one hundred hearings in the courtroom, he has also personally tried over fifty jury trials in the State of Texas.
In 2006, Chris graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with honors. Upon graduating from UT-Austin, Chris returned home to the Dallas area to study law at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law. While in law school, Chris was a staff-editor for the SMU International Law Review Association, was an active participant in Moot Court and also in SMU's Legal Clinic program, which is where he began to hone the courtroom skills that he brings to bear for his clients.
Chris has been involved with numerous charitable and legal organizations in the DFW community, including the Dallas Bar Association, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, the Texas Exes, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Additionally, he has served as an Adjunct Faculty Mentor for the University of North Texas School of Law at Dallas. In his free time, Chris enjoys reading, staying active, being an avid sports fan, and spending time with his family and friends.
