Allen Vaught has more than 19 years of experience working as a litigator on complex, multi-party litigation. As Of Counsel at Baron & Budd, Vaught currently manages the firm’s Employment Law Group where he focuses on unpaid overtime wage class actions cases and mass layoff cases.
In 2015, Vaught won a $3.6 million federal jury verdict and judgment for a group of oilfield workerrs who were not paid all overtime wages owed, and that judgment was confirmed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Past victories include an approximate $3 million settlement for a group of call center workers in a back overtime wage case and a six figure jury verdict for a group of mechanics who were incorrectly classified as independent contractors by their employer, which earned him the distinction of being recognized as the “Litigator of the Week” by the state of Texas by legal publication Texas Lawyer.
Vaught has been named a "Super Lawyer" for years 2012 to 2017 in the area of employment law by Thompson Reuters, a distinction limited to the top 5% of Texas lawyers.
In addition to his work as an attorney, Vaught also served as member of the Texas House of Representatives and in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a U.S. Army captain.
In the Texas House of Representatives, Vaught served as chairman of the Subcommittee on Violent Crimes, chairman of the Subcommittee on Border, Health and School Centered Emergencies, vice chairman of the Committee on Defense and Veterans’ Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee. He has been widely recognized for his work on behalf of children’s health and safety, education and crime prevention and response.
A member of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1997 until 2005, Vaught served in Operation Iraqi Freedom from March 2003 to March 2004. Vaught commanded one of the Army’s first units to enter Fallujah, and he served as the city’s de facto mayor. After being transferred to Sadr City, Vaught was injured in combat operations and awarded the Purple Heart.

Helpful, compassionate, thorough
I consulted with and referred several people to Allen regarding commission status for several employees of a nationwide company with a local office. He was very thorough and understood the problems these people were dealing with management. Not sure of the final outcome as I am no longer associated...
"Allen really cares about his clients and works very hard to generate the best possible result in every case."
