Read This Before Hiring for Criminal Defense

I hired Kunal Udeshi/Udeshi Law Firm to represent me in serious criminal matters. Based on my experience, I would not hire this attorney again or recommend him for criminal-defense representation My concerns are not simply because I disliked the outcome. They began long before my case ended. I prese...rved receipts, messages, payment records, court documents and communications concerning my representation. During the representation, conversations and representations made to me caused me to believe my cases could be fought and dismissed. Those assurances mattered when I continued spending my hard-earned money. Ultimately, I pleaded guilty to the remaining evading-arrest charge and received two years deferred probation. To be fair, several other criminal charges were dismissed, which I acknowledge for accuracy. My biggest concerns involved communication, money/accounting, professional treatment and what I understood I was paying for. I have receipts totaling $2,200 - $1,500 and $700. The firm’s own explanation acknowledges the $1,500 was originally connected with an attorney writ bond and the $700 was originally provided for a bondsman. The firm now says both were later credited toward a criminal-defense retainer. I dispute that I knowingly authorized the entire $2,200 to be converted into earned legal fees in the manner now characterized. An earlier communication also offered to return the $700 because of the confusion if I released the attorney. After months of disputing this money, I received a lengthy explanation. However, the firm’s own response states that it does NOT replace the final financial accounting and that the fee ledger and executed fee agreements require separate production. I requested those records and the final accounting. The firm also reconstructed approximately 45 hours of services valued at over $20,000. Its own explanation acknowledges this is not a contemporaneous time ledger, the hours are retrospective estimates and the valuation does not establish that amount as fees actually charged or earned. Communication was another major concern. I repeatedly asked substantive questions about evidence, motions, defense strategy, trial preparation and plea consequences. I was making decisions about my freedom. There were periods when I felt I had to repeatedly chase my legal team for meaningful answers. A second attorney became involved, resulting in another $5,000 payment and another accounting/refund dispute. When I raised concerns, that attorney emailed me language including “Cut the bull****” and later told me to “quit b****ing and accept responsibility for your choices.” Imagine paying thousands of dollars, facing serious criminal charges and asking questions about your freedom, only to receive that type of communication from an attorney involved in your defense. I considered it inappropriate and disrespectful treatment of a paying client. I also repeatedly sought assistance recovering a seized vehicle. The firm ultimately obtained a court order directing return of my vehicle and phone, but I never recovered the vehicle. I am not accusing the firm of causing its later disappearance because I have not established that. I can truthfully say I sought assistance, a judge ordered my property returned, and I never recovered it. After I continued disputing the $2,200 and requesting documentation, Kunal’s written response ended: “You understood. You are being facetious. Thanks for wasting my time after I worked hard for you. Hire someone else next time.” I was a paying client asking for an accounting of my money. Professionalism matters. I submitted grievances concerning my experience to the State Bar of Texas. Those are allegations under review; I am not claiming the State Bar has already found misconduct. My advice: get everything in writing, keep receipts and communications, keep fee agreements, and document cash payments. I worked extremely hard for my money. I personally walked away feeling betray

This is a awesome choice when it comes to hiring a lawyer he is very well known for his works including my own was looking at a year and a half for a drug possession charge he got me out in 3 days time served this was for under 3 ounces is what they labeled it as but on a real note it was only 7.5... grams amped up charges imo anywho if your looking for a great lawyer talk to this guy .

Please do yourself a favor and avoid this firm as it was my worst nightmare

Mr Udeshi failed to communicate with me after he fired one and another lawyer assigned to me left. I had a simple probate case and the only asset that i had a lien on for 20 years was sold last June and Mr Udeshi refused to speak with me and refused to withdraw from my case almost a year later. T...he lien was for back child support and his refusal to withdraw or assist in my purchasing the house sold well below market have left me with only unnecessary legal bills and having to report him to the Texas Law board.

Do not hire this poor excuse for a law firm

They strung me along for 2 years, accomplishing nothing. There were long unexplained delays. They switched lawyers on me 3 times & never pre-informed me of the switches. I had to figure that happened afterwards. Therefore, no continuity. Accomplished little, but sucking up my pre-deposited funds... & doing nothing tangible for me. Did a terrible job. They finally withdrew from my case after I refused to send them more money, which I wasn’t about to do, based on their lack of performance. If you have been as disappointed in this law firm as I have, do any potential future clients of them a favor and report your issues to the Texas State Bar, as I have.

Hiring him tomorrow

I see mixed reviews. He seemed to know more than the other lawyers I've talked to. This is a simple civil suit. I will give a day to day update so you will know exactly how this business works. I have to sell my car to pay him. This should be black and white. I have a contract I was not paid the guy... stole my money changed his name. I found him. He has a business and money to go after. Why wouldn't I win.
