Wonderful experience, truly considerate lawyer

My husband and I are so happy with our experience with David Heiman and his office staff. I needed to have my daughter's bio father terminate his rights in order for my husband to legally adopt her, and I was terrified. David made the process so easy, and was so sensitive to the delicacy of the pr...ocess. His secretary did all the "dirty" work for me with talking to her bio father, and went out of her way to facilitate all my concerns (I.E. adding the ability to track all the mail we sent to him, signature upon delivery, etc). We started at the end of the summer, and David said he really wanted to try to have the process done by Christmas, so we could have the burden lifted and spend our first Christmas together as a "legal family". Everything went quickly, and sure enough, the adoption was finalized about a week before Christmas. I was shocked with how NOT stressful the process was. It was seamless. David even dined with our whole family to discuss things we had questions about. Lawyers who are so considerate of a family in a sensitive time are, in my experience, unheard of. I really lucked out stumbling upon his practice by googling lawyers in my area. Thank you so much, David!

Outstanding representation!

David is an outstanding attorney. He was aggressive when he needed to be, supportive in my decision making process, realistic with my options and kept me grounded throughout the modification. He never just told me what he thought I wanted to hear, but shot me straight and outlined every potential pos...sibility in terms that I understood. I am very satisfied with the outcome of my divorce and David fought to get me everything that i requested, which is almost unheard of for the men in Texas. Thank you so much! I will highly recommend him whenever the opportunities arise.

Good Resolution

My ex was trying to keep me from seeing my kids. I hired Mr. Heiman, and he got the Judge to not do that. I will say that his assistants didn't always return my calls right away, but they did take care of me. I would recommend him.

You get what you pay for

I hired David Heiman for my divorce simply because his rates are fairly inexpensive, but I got what I paid for. A simple, agreed divorce with no kids, no property, and no debt turned into four months of just trying to get this guy to file the one simple petition in my case to handle everything. It to...ok my now ex-wife finally calling him to give him a piece of her mind about his work ethic to light a fire under him. A word of advise, do not hire this guy. He was very rude to me throughout the entire (drawn out on his end) process, and acted as though he was better than me. Also, I did some research on him after the fact, and he has been diciplined several times by the State of Texas for his professional actions.

Unprofessional, irresponsible, and unresponsive

I've never met anyone as unprofessional and irresponsible as Mr. Heiman. I hired him because "I wanted results, not a fight", as his website states. The opposite is true. It was a fight to get him to do any kind of work on my case, and also a fight just to get him to respond to emails or phone calls ...about my case. Granted, I'm not someone that calls every week wanting a status update, but once every SIX MONTHS would be nice. Mr. Heiman was completely unprepared for my final divorce hearing. I tried contacting him for the three months prior to the court date to find out if he needed any information at all from me, with no response, and he finally called me (frantic) two days beforehand and insisted that I take off work and rearrange my schedule to come in the day before my trial. When I got there, he wanted extremely accurate financial information, like all bank account numbers, balances, student loan balances, mortgage information, blue book values of cars, my boat, my watch, etc. Sensing that I was frustrated with his failure to let me know that I would need any of this, he offered to let me use a computer in his tiny office. He offered to help look up blue book values if he could bill me hourly for it. I agreed, but saw that he was on facebook instead of looking things up. Oh, and the Judge informed me that the document Mr. Heiman was trying to prepare should have been filed over a year ago. I thought the nightmare was over after the final hearing, but the worst was yet to come. He filed something called a “QDRO”, which divides my retirement, without letting me review it first. My wife, whom I had been married for two years, received half of my 20+ year retirement account (PERMANENTLY) . Fortunantly, my ex wife is reasonable and is allowing me to fix it, although she didn’t have to. The real kicker is, David Heiman told me that he wouldn’t charge his entire $10,000 charge to appeal the case that soley messed up, be would only charge me $5,000. What a joke! I have the feeling the fiasco isn’t over. Please do not even consult with this guy!
