Help with STEM OPT

I am delighted to write this review for John. He was excellent, he provided me a response to my query with evidence. I reached out to so many immigration attorney's including the once at my office. And nobody was able to provide a clear and precise answer the way John did. I would highly recommend hi...m to someone who needs help with immigration problems or concerns.

Best Immigration Lawyer with Integrity, Knowledge and Professionalism

John carefully reviewed my case, got into all the details, and kept asking me if i have any concerns or questions. He seriously cares about my case with all positive actions, such as using his laptop to work with me at 1st meeting, setting up a meeting with me (free) to address my question of the po...ssibility of changing a service center, etc. John's deep knowledge on Immigration Law and practices made me very confident, since I have contacted/communicated with more than 6 lawyers. John has a great team as well. They are all very friendly and professional. By the way, the cost from John’s service is slightly cheaper than others, not even taking into consideration of John’s 40 years’ immigration attorney experience. I highly recommend Mr. John W. Lawit as your immigration attorney. He is the best!

Best in class & would bet on him -

I came across Mr. John through Avvo and called them from outside US for my immigration issue for consultation. The courtesy that him and his assistants provide on call is highly commendable. The way they communicated and clarified things made me felt that, they understand the problem we face through ...and ready to listen . Gave multiple options and how would it affect in near term, long term . The best was, there was a chance of finding a permanent solution that I was never informed by other respectable colleagues in the same profession of his. Really grateful to you and your law firm Sir ! Thank you very much.

US visa approved after 5 denials

It was great working with John- I was denied the US visa 5 times- and I was highly skeptical about even applying again. When I discussed my case with John, he suggested me what all I need to do to make my case strong and helped me put together my application package. What really helped me was the mock... interview practice we for almost 2 weeks- this made me confident in my answers and helped me overcome my nervousness. John's experience and expertise on things to do and not do during the interview was super helpful. I have hired many other visa lawyers in the past and they just do the usual- put together the application package- but with John my case was handled differently- I discussed with him the concerns I had regarding the case and he made sure he handles my case in a way which addresses my concerns and makes me confident. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a case specific lawyer.

A memorable 12 year long association

I have know John since 2002, when his office handled my first H1-B for the science lab which hired me as I was a young researcher just out of graduate school. We shortly after had our first conversations regarding a green card application about which, at the time, I was still unsure and entirely clue...less. John gave me critical yet constructive advice as to the weak spots in my potential applications. I worked on them as he advised, targeting in particular the right set of journal publications and academic recommendations that would make my case viable. We finally filed the green card application in 2005 (under the Outstanding Researcher category following exactly the guidelines provided by John) and, other the fact that this happened at the time when the NIS to USCIS transition resulted in a complete bureaucratic meltdown at the newly created DHS, my application was readily approved. We then waited and waited, and waited... until DHS got their acts together and issued my GC in 2008. In the meantime, John's office had handled the renewal of my H1-B visa and processed ancillary items, such as advance parole documents for my dependents as well as for me. The last step of this saga is the naturalisation, which was handled remarkably well by John, taking into account the fact that as I had many trips between the US and overseas, it was not a "slam dunk" case. John even accompanied me at the local USCIS office for the final interview, which gave me the pleasure to finally meet him in person. I must say that I am very happy to have finally done so. To conclude, I will give my highest recommendation to John, for anyone having a complicated case (like mine) in particular... I can thus only assume that this will furthermore apply to easy cases! A last word: John recently moved to a new office where the team of paralegals is much better than the older one. Yet another reason to work with John.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
