I was a defendant in a debt case where I was named with an LLC and the plaintiff was a debt collection agency. Subsequently the case was dropped by the plaintiff. My attorneys made sure the debt company would not try to sue me again or send me a cancellation of debt tax form (1099-C, the IRS considers cancellation of debt as income).
