Mr & Mrs Cedric R Conners

My Husband and I have been Clients of Travis Watkins for almost 2 Years and I always love their on hold message that says you will get “A Good Nights Sleep once you hire them for your Tax Law Resolution Case”. We have always for some reason owed taxes for the past several years, so we have worked ...with the IRS without the help of any outside counsel, but this time we were being “AUDITED” and felt we needed Representation, however, they didn’t even Represent us during the Audit..they said they don’t do that, so they sent myself and husband to face the IRS alone, which I thought that was what we hired them for was to REPRESENT us in front of the IRS. Well we hired Travis Watkins and the Nightmare is still not over! We were told as long as nothing has changed in our Financial Status that there is a “Non Collectible Status” where the IRS would not take any actions during that status, but we found out what was told to us by Travis Watkins Firm Was again NOT TRUE!!!!!! Our 1st letter from IRS came stating the exact things that I was ASSURED would not happen, so I called TRAVIS WATKINS OFFICE again, and was “ASSURED” there would be NO collections at all and I asked but I was continually told “No Actions would be Taken” from the IRS, well again, that is truly NOT the case. Friday we received the infamous letters from the IRS indicating that our house now has a Lien on it and so Saturday we called Travis Watkins office and spoke with Angela who says she will get a message to Shelby for first thing Monday morning, but no call or email at all. So, I called Tuesday to see why she did not reach out to us and, then I was told the best they could do is a Phone Appointment for Wednesday at 5pm which would be her earliest appointment. That did not happen. So, I emailed Shelby this Thursday morning and I received a call from her on a VERY Bad Connection just to tell me that she has nothing to talk with us about and that our case is closed. I again informed her of what I had received (2nd Letter)that it shows that a Lien HAS been placed on my property which is unacceptable. During the conversation, I thought our call just dropped, so, I called her back when she never called me and I was directed to not call back and that our case was closed and there is nothing else they can help us with. After several attempts (THEY ANSWERED AND HUNG UP ON ME 5 Times) I finally got a person in the over-flow that didn’t hang up on me and her name was Angela (Whom we talked to Saturday), so she took all the hard blows AGAIN that would have gone to the actual Attorneys Daron Sutherland or Shelby Clark as of late or even Travis Watkins himself, but no one was available to speak with us anymore. We were told there are notes saying that “we are just mad the resolution didn’t come out in our favor, and that is why we are now calling adding all of the additional information now, which is not true. I have complained throughout the almost 2 Years about the lack of help we have received. We are for sure dissatisfied with the outcome of our Tax Resolution that we paid $4000.00 for to get our tax liability of about $56,000.00 lowered. Well, They didn’t. They couldn’t even negotiate the removal of all, any or some of the fees or penalties waived. We are a Middle Class family that needed Legal Help and now instead, we are seeking help for the help we did not get. We were told LEINS/LEVIES/GARNISHMENTS ETC. was not to be worried about per Shelby, but I have always been Leary of anything they tell me and this is why. We understand that sometimes it is hard to deal with the IRS, but we have always had a payment plan and never missed a payment, but to say they went back and forth negotiating with the IRS and they would not even take the Fees or Charges off? WOW! Not even $1.00 off of the total amount due ... NOTHING?? FOR NEW OR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!!

After taking money, would not respond to emails

After giving Travis Watkins two thousand dollars, I waited seven months for an update. I sent emails to three different people in the office and did not get a reply from anyone. I finally had to fire them through a letter via certified mail with return receipt, because I could not get them to respo...nd to anything I was sending them. Meanwhile, I was still being harassed for taxes. They did not end my tax nightmare. They just conned me out of two thousand dollars and then ignored me. Meanwhile, late fees for taxes increased the amount that I owed, because I was waiting for them to respond. I finally decided to deal with the government directly, since I couldn't get Travis Watkins to do anything. The only communication I received from them was 42 different spam messages for bookkeeping and tax filing services that I was not remotely interested in.

It is impossible to respond substantively to what amounts to an anonymous bad "review" in this forum. If you're a real person, we would be happy to speak with you offline at 405-607-1192, as there are just some things that wouldn't be fruitful to say in this forum. Ask for Danielle Brand. If this is a fake "review," this is sad. We still wish you well. We can only say that the fact scenario you describe does not identify any case in our office. We look forward to your call. Here is just a sample of satisfied clients: (for more you can visit ->https://www.traviswatkins.com/recommendations) https://www.traviswatkins.com/video/testimonial-when-stress-overcomes-you.cfm https://www.traviswatkins.com/video/video-testimonial-of-gary-when-the-irs-comes-knocking.cfm Here are a few of Travis Watkins' other accomplishments and qualities: He has been a tax attorney in good standing in Oklahoma for nearly 20 years, also licensed in Texas and Arkansas. He is licensed to practice in good standing before the IRS in all 50 states and U.S. territories. He has written 2 books you can find on Amazon. He has dozens of tax help content and videos on YouTube and TravisWatkins.com all FREE of charge to the public. He hosts a Q&A public service radio program in Oklahoma City and Tulsa on IRS news and collections. He hosts a bi-weekly tax- tip segment on television in Oklahoma City, as well as a monthly column on tax help in The Oklahoman newspaper, again all at no cost to the public. Most importantly, his family has been directly impacted by the pain and despair tax problems can bring: https://www.traviswatkins.com/video/why-irs-resolution-chose-travis-watkins.cfm Travis truly believes that tax relief is his calling and the body of work in the public domain speaks for itself. However, we welcome and encourage taxpayers to check out these credentials for our firm or any firm when they want to hire a professional to help them end their IRS nightmare. Taxpayers should also know that working with a tax help firm to finality takes cooperation. It, first and foremost, takes a willingness to own the fact that you are responsible for the problem and our job is to help solve it. The IRS has the final word on all requests. Sometimes people just don't understand that paying a tax professional a fair fee is not an "easy button." Other people feel that the professional is to blame if they don't like the advice they give. At the end of the day, we aren't magicians or mind readers, nor do we claim to be. We are servants and we are advocates. We charge a one-time, fixed fee. We don't come back for more, so long as the client accurately represents the general scope of work we have to do. We do our best to anticipate the factual gaps the client doesn't know. Ultimately, though, we have to rely on details and documents supplied by the client, process that information and verify the situation with the IRS' records. If the client fails to get us what we need to do our job, this impedes the process and delays results. We will continue to do the most good for the most people that we can. We wish you well.

Don't use them

I went to his firm in July 2018 for help. Spoke with a man by the name of Joey and he promised he could help me but never heard from them. My social security was garnished and was promised that wouldn't happen. I paid 3500 for nothing. When I asked for my money back they sent me a bill showing what ...they had done. Was told they got 600 a hour which was ridiculous. They charged me 150 for calling me because they said I hadn't paid. I gave them checks to deposit monthly but still called to to harass me. I am 69 years old and 3500 is alot of money for me. Please don't trust them. Carolyn

"I endorse this lawyer. Travis Watkins is, in my opinion, the finest tax attorney in the State of Oklahoma. I have witnessed this not only as a fellow attorney, but as a client of his law office. I retained Travis Watkins to handle a very serious IRS tax arrearage in 2015 after having a poor experience with a previously retained tax attorney. Travis and his team of attorneys worked tirelessly on my case and treated me with the utmost courtesy and respect from start to finish. In the end, Travis succeeded in securing for me an accepted Offer in Compromise that not only saved me over $200,000, but also saved my career and my family."

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
