Best of the Best - Smart, Brave and Intuitive.
I cannot speak highly enough about Attorney Carpenter. My boyfriend and his ex-wife are in a very nasty child custody case. She called the police, made false accusations, the officer failed to properly investigate the facts. Before we knew it, my boyfriend was being extradited to New Orleans to face ...

Told me I should plead guilty to a case she didn’t do any discovery on
I paid this woman 2,500 to sit on the bench in front of me in court and shop Saks online on her iPad. She had weeks to do a discovery and did absolutely nothing, then on the day of court comes up to me to tell me that there is no evidence to back up my claims, and that if she were me she would plead ...
Sir, I have never owned an iPad and I most certainly do not shop at Saks. You also did not pay your your legal fees thus I never received $2500. Since you were initially unemployed, I was trying to do you a favor by charging you highly reduced rate. I did indeed ask for you to be placed in a diversion program. You were accepted however, since restitution was owed in your case, the DA office required a down payment of half your restitution up front prior to admittance. You told me that such a payment was impossible. The program also cost money to enter, and the judge refused to give you additional time to gather the money. Your signature was on every single document that the DA office produced in the discovery packet. You never once denied that it was your signature. At the end of the day, you offered me no viable defense except I did not do this while all the evidence stated differently. Going to trial would have been disastrous as your judge would have sentenced you to jail time. For this reason, our only option was a guilty plea pursuant to Article 893 of the La Code of Criminal Procedure. I, too, was disappointed with this result. The positive here is that after you pay the restitution, you will be eligible to have your conviction set aside and have your record expunged. I remember that the judge told you in open court that I did get you a very good deal. I might be mistaken but you did not have to pay any fines or court costs. If you were factually not guilty of that crime then I offer my condolences. The justice system is highly flawed. I encourage you to move forward with the expungement process. Please feel free to reach out to us if you would like advice or assistance. Lastly, you wreaked of alcohol at every court appearance and you also admitted to me that you had been drinking prior to one of our meetings. I hope that you seek help for substance abuse. Kindest regards.

About 7 months later my case was supposed to be resolved. Mrs. Carpenter NEVER reached out to me. I instantly knew something...
