Jodie Haferbier McGill

After completing initial consultations with five other attorneys, I decided to retain Jodie McGill as my attorney. I chose Jodie due to her expertise in Collaborative Divorce and her female-focused law firm. Jodie was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I particularly liked having access to Jodie’s... team of professionals, such as the Financial Neutral, who helped tremendously during our divorce during the difficult asset allocation discussions. Jodie helped me determine the goals for my divorce, and she guided me through the process while staying true to these goals. Jodie took on my divorce case about seven years ago. In my case I was closed out of all the finances from the beginning. I hired Jodie to help me, and she had to work hard for everything, each step of the way, because the other lawyer and my ex husband took the stance that they wouldn't give up an...ything At the time she didn't know if taking it to court or settling out of court was best. But, I believe that through out the ordeal, she was a steady and compassionate force. She was good about returning phone calls and emails promptly, answering my questions clearly when I asked . Also I was always treated professionally and respectfully. It is never inexpensive to hire a lawyer, but she seemed to be careful not to run up the bill in excess.

I chose a collaborative divorce after attending a meeting about the process. I thought it was best to keep our children out of the process and not have a judge make the decisions for our children that we could make. Jodie was then recommended to me by a friend. Divorce is an ugly process, but Jodi...e guided me well in making the decisions that needed to be made and kept the process on track, without pushing me. She would suggest taking a break from the process if needed. Hashing things out at the meetings with the ex and his attorney are not easy, Jodie knew when I was upset and would call me afterwards to talk things through, explain things to me, and sometimes get me to look at things differently. From the first four way meeting to the signing of the decree, it was a five month process. I would highly recommend Jodie for this divorce process. She is very professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and understanding.
