Our family's experience with Mr. Booth and his legal team has been an exercise in immense frustration.
We hired him to defend a paternity suit. At every turn, he made excuses and concessions for the opposition's heinous attempts to derail his client's case. He ignored plain evidence. He even went so far as to attempt to bully his client into dropping an emergency motion based on a lie told by the petitioner (who was shown to have lied under oath at the hearing Mr. Booth was trying to avoid). Many times we were left wondering who's side he was on.
Thankfully, we insisted that he go through with the emergency motion and because of that fateful day in court, we got what we needed (proof of lying under oath) to be in a position of leverage at the bargaining table. Had we folded to his intimidation tactics, we would have been powerless.
Whenever his actions or the actions of his staff were questioned, he threatened to withdraw as counsel at crucial points in the proceedings (namely, RIGHT before scheduled hearings). He once threatened to withdraw as counsel if he was not paid 48 hours after issuing an invoice.
Communication was atrocious, both with his client and with opposing counsel. So atrocious in fact, that opposing counsel complained to the Judge about Joe's lack of communication during a hearing and presented evidence that Joe had been remiss in this respect.
Regarding our most recent hearing, Joe was MIA up until the day of the hearing, when he spent the morning getting the hearing taken off the docket and then charged well over $1,000 for "preparation" for a hearing that never was.
If all of that isn't enough, he can't even get his client's VERY common name right half the time.
Would. Not. Recommend.

My divorce happened in 2001 after a marriage of almost 35 years. My Ex-husband was to voluntarily pay monthly maintenance for a period of ten years. At the end of 2002, I moved out of Kansas. The maintenance arrived, sometimes sporadically, and then stopped. I contacted the original lawyer whose services I used during the divorce. She declined to become involved. There must have been someone watching out for me because when I consulted the Internet for another attorney in Johnson County KS, I liked what I read about Joe Booth and flew to Kansas to meet with him. To say I thought he was excellent in handling my case is an understatement. He was the champion that I needed so much at the time. I will be forever grateful for his expertise and professionalism. He earned and deserves all the accolades I could ever voice.
