Fantastic

Tana successfully navigated her way through not one, but two adoptions for our family. She was not only professional, but timely and responsive and was extremely empathetic to nervous parents to be who probably called her far too often. I would recommend her without hesitation. Thank you Tana. Tim... & Angela

A real find

I have worked with Tana Benner for eight years. I feel privileged to have found her and to call her my colleague and friend. She pushed through the first same sex divorce in Missouri. She is smart, caring, funny and takes the time to listen to her clients and find out what their needs are. Tana has ...the same interest that I do which is making sure that our clients are always number one, that we are prepared, professional and that we know that we have done everything possible for each client to have the best possible outcome in their case.

Good for a cut and dry case, but won't fight for you if you've been taken advantage of.

I almost hate to write this review because I really liked Tana; she's very personable and easy to communicate with. I would recommend her for certain types of cases (more routine). If you need someone to deal with an aggressive opponent, I would not recommend her. After living with the outcome of m...y case for a while now, I question my decision. I had all the facts documented (with proof) when I retained Tana. The other attorney immediately filed outlandish motions and used scare tactics to influence me. I needed an attorney to help me see through the emotions, and take control of my case. Simply put, I initiated my case, which most people considered an "easy" win... but we spent most of the time (and a great deal of money) defending it. Tana didn't "lead" me or my case; she asked regularly what I wanted to do (which I understand has goodness to it), but I needed her to advise me on what to do. I wound up "rolling over" to avoid trial (the scare tactics worked), and now my child's father has virtually disappeared (he doesn't exercise his visitation rights as we agreed to, which I knew would be the case). He's in arrears on child support, despite it being close to half the amount is should have been. I still don't understand how or why my case turned out the way it did.

I am sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the outcome of your case. Since the facts of this review do not exactly fit the facts of any recent cases I have had, I encourage you to please identify yourself and contact me directly to discuss what you believe I should have done differently. You bring up some good points. First, if are looking for an attorney to "lead" you down the wrong path, that is not me. Additionally, when dealing with a parent who does not truly wish to have a relationship with the child and does not care about supporting his or her child, the results feel unfair. Unfortunately, there is no motion I can file to change your child's father or the facts of your case. Even if you decided to proceed to trial and if you got a more favorable result, it would not change your child's father and it could have made things worse. In some cases, the best decision is to save yourself the additional attorney fees and heartache that come along with trying to "win." There are no winners in cases involving bad parents.

"I have worked with Tana for over 8 years. She is a colleague and friend. Her accomplishment in obtaining the first same sex divorce in Missouri is something many people don't know about her. She hasn't been afraid to tackle complicated legal issues in front of our judges. She is intelligent, patient, fun to be around, and really cares about her clients. She shares the same goals that I do in terms of always trying to put our clients first and focusing on making sure every client has the best possible outcome in their case. It is an honor and privilege that she is part of our Columbia Family Law Group team."
