Kristen Thurmond

Kristen focuses on the areas of law that impact almost everyone: custody issues, criminal charges, as well as animal law and ordinance tickets. Originally from Nixa, Missouri, Kristen came to the Kansas City metro area to attend William Jewell College and fell in love with the city. She decided to go to UMKC School of Law and deepen her connections in Kansas City.

Family law matters include divorce, legal separations, modifications, child support issues, child custody issues, paternity actions, guardianships, and step-parent adoptions. Kristen tries to ensure her clients have the legal needs covered during difficult times when family dynamics are changing.

Animal matters are an area of law that is growing. Pet owners find themselves facing tickets with significant consequences, missing or stolen pets, or defending their dog after an accident. Kristen also enjoys assisting business owners who help pets to make sure they are aware of their options and functioning efficiently. Kristen volunteers at Spay & Neuter Kansas City and has a passion for helping families keep their pets safe, healthy, and out of legal trouble.

Criminal charges can be anything from speeding tickets to assault charges to trespassing and property damage, even juvenile matters. She has handled a myriad of charges across the metro and understands bad things can happen to anyone.
