About Leland
Biography
I am a founding member of Dempsey Kingsland & Osteen in Kansas City, Missouri, where I represent patients and families in medical malpractice, wrongful death, and other serious personal injury cases. I graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a B.A. in 1979 and from Tulane Law School. I have practiced law in Missouri since 1982. I am also licensed to practice in Kansas and admitted to practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Eighth and Tenth Circuits and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. I have served on the Board of Governors for the American Association of Justice and the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. In 2007, I won a $43 million vaccine award for a child paralyzed from the neck down, one of the largest vaccine-related awards in U.S. history. For over 40 years, I have been successful in obtaining substantial recoveries in complex medical malpractice and serious injury cases and am committed to helping injured people and their families achieve accountability and fair compensation. I am AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and have been listed in Super Lawyers for Missouri and Kansas. I have received honors including "Best of the Bar" in medical malpractice and “Outstanding Lawyer of America."
