I understand the consultation fee, and the retainer fee, two separate issues. The firm took the consultation fee, which is what I wanted them to do. Months later I got a call out of the blue asking if I was still interested. Yes, I had been waiting for a bill. Finally they agreed to bill me for ½..., because that is what anyone’s standard limit is on their bank card, and the next ½ due the next month. Next month comes and they will not charge the card. They refused to try. That sounds more like what to expect from the INS than your attorney representing you with immigration. So I have to wonder, did they just pocket the first 1/2 and then say they are finished?
