Joseph Wayne Flees II

30 years ago I was court-martialed and convicted of a sex offense. Fast forward to last year, I was working and was arrested for being in a park near a playground. I reached out to an attorney with whom I’d worked with prior but felt that I needed to look around. I’m glad I did. I found Joe Flees ...on a Google search and reached out. Joe was originally assigned at my military defense lawyer when I was facing serious charges from the Army after being cleared by local law enforcement in 2012. Unfortunately, he transitioned to civilian law midway through my case. He continued to be a passionate advocate and confidant while setting r...ealistic expectations for the duration of our relationship. Ultimately, I was cleared of all sexually assault allegations but found guilty of consensual sodomy (a crime not recognized by any jurisdiction but the Military at the time). I was sentenced to confinement for 30 days and an Other than Honorable Discharge. I felt like my life was completely ruined as I lost a lot of opportunities, friends and confidence. Shortly after my conviction, consensual sodomy was finally completely abolished by the military. Consequently, I spent the next several years appealing my case but they fell on deaf ears despite the recent change in law. Finally, with my last shot at redemption, I turned to Joe who knew my case as good as anyone. He worked extensively to put together a strong packet and case for submission to the Army Review Board. We waited almost 3 years for a response but Joe consistently followed up. With the odds against me and nothing but years of despair and pain, Joe was able to secure an extraordinary outcome for me in the form of full-relief of the conviction and restoration of my honorable discharge! Because of Joe, I received the vindication I sought for almost 7 years and can now be proud of my military service and released from the resentment and bitterness of the last 7 years. I am grateful that Joe worked so tirelessly to change my life.
