also known as Joe Flees
Joe is a partner in the law firm of Frank & Juengel Law Group in Clayton, Missouri specializing in Federal and State criminal law. He is licensed in Missouri, Illinois, the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Missouri, and with the U.S.C.A for the Armed Forces. Joe is committed to defending those who have been accused of crimes and works to obtain the best result for each individual client.
Joe attended law school at Washington University in St. Louis. After graduating law school and passing the bar, Joe joined the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corp. Joe was one of a few of his JAG classmates selected to begin his career as a trial attorney. Following basic training Joe was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana as a Trial Counsel. While there Joe handled criminal cases ranging from minor offenses to first degree murder. Most of the cases he handled involved serious offenses, including sexual offenses. Based on his successful record at trial he was asked to serve in a dual role as Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana where he handled criminal matters involving civilians on base.
Following his tour at Fort Polk, Joe was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where he served a Defense Counsel. While there Joe represented hundreds of soldier's accused of offenses and obtained eight full acquittals for various clients in under two years. The cases ranged from attempted murder to driving under the influence. Most of the cases he handled involved those accused of sexually related offenses.
After leaving the Army Joe served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Christian County, Missouri. While working as a state's attorney, Joe's docket primarily included sex crimes, crimes against children, and weapons offenses. Joe's work in Christian County also included cases such as domestic assault, drug and alcohol related offenses, and felony traffic offenses including DWI. Through these experiences Joe was able to see how the state builds a case, and what it takes to successfully defend a client against one.
In addition to his work on criminal cases, Joe also worked in civil litigation in the Springfield office of a prominent Kansas City based civil firm. These experiences gave him a good understanding of civil practice, and how often times civil and criminal issues overlap. If you need assistance in any legal matter related to or stemming from your case, we are here to help.

The best attorney ever!
I have read some of the reviews on here and I have to say I disagree. Mr flees has been nothing shy of amazing. On time, answers calls , and fights hard for me. I think some people have certain cases where it puts the attorneys back against the wall. Attorneys don’t have magic wands. I can say I ...

Take a Plea
Upon reading all the reviews, I was hopeful Mr. Flees would be the attorney we needed. I was very disappointed, he did nothing to assist in negotiating charges or even getting them dismissed when the state failed to present evidence to support their charges. In this case, I do not feel he was not a...
This is an anonymous review, so I have no way of verifying if this person is in fact a client, a competitor, or an alleged victim aggrieved by me beating the defendant’s case. I have never pled anyone who did not want to plead guilty. Sometimes individuals believe that there is “no case,” but then I must educate them on how the system works. One is not charged with zero evidence. There is always something being claimed we must respond to. The criminal justice system can, at times, be unfair. Defense attorneys are tasked with fighting this system on behalf of their clients who are sometimes in fact guilty. Part of my role is telling clients what options are available to them and giving them the best advice on what path to take. These options are determined by the evidence, and the law. I always assist in plea negotiations. If there is no evidence the case would go to trial. Most importantly, the client always makes the final decision to go to trial or to plead. If they plead guilty, a record is made in every case that the individual is pleading guilty because they are in fact guilty and satisfied with the services of their lawyer. Therefore, this description above could not have happened because no one pleads when there is no evidence. They can always change their lawyer before a plea, and this suggests it did not happen. I am not aware of any actual clients who are dissatisfied. My guess is this is a family member of a client (not the actual client who approved everything). I am only aware of one case with a dissatisfied family member (not actual client). In that case I negotiated a felony charge to be amended down to a misdemeanor with no probation upon a payment of a fine. I believe taking a case from felony conviction with risk of prison, down to misdemeanor fine, which is akin to a minor traffic offense, is a good outcome. This is especially true when it saved the client thousands in legal fees to go to trial. If you are a real client, I encourage you to contact me so we can discuss these false allegations. I am always prepared to fight false allegations.

Saved my life
30 years ago I was court-martialed and convicted of a sex offense. Fast forward to last year, I was working and was arrested for being in a park near a playground. I reached out to an attorney with whom I’d worked with prior but felt that I needed to look around. I’m glad I did. I found Joe Flees ...

450 years minimum to dropped charges
Facing a potential sentence of more than four centuries, I went through four different public defenders and even hired a private one, but none matched Joe's dedication. Our initial conversation instilled in me the confidence I desperately needed. Although accused of over 40 counts related to CSAM, no...

Best possible outcome
I hired Joe Flees when I was charged by the state following a self-defense incident. He treated me like a client rather than a payday and kept me apprised of every development in the case. After initially having faced decades in prison, Joe was able to secure 5 years of probation for me. It was the b...
