Keep Looking!!!

I had a similar experience as the client that gave her the negative review on July 3rd. Linda and her staff made many mistakes in my case as well. I found out the hard way that she does not take well to asking to make corrections. She would never admit to any errors in my case. In the end she ending... up turning on me. Before I even retained Linda I made clear that I wanted my ex to pay all legal fees as he was in contempt of court and had been for 3 years. He was already told by the representative from Child Support that he would be required to pay my legal fees should he continue to be in contempt since they could not represent me in this matter as it was for medical bills. Linda knew this and had agreed it wouldn't be a problem. The last agreement before we were to go to court I reminded her that I wanted her to be sure to figure all her fees into his ordered amount. The order only stated he should pay fees in the amount of $600 when I gave her a $1000 retainer so I asked them to correct before I would sign the agreement. I even specifically asked that she figure in her court fees. I had only received one statement at that time and that had been about 45 days earlier so I had no idea what my balance was at that point. She did not ever disclose to me that she had intended to bill me over the amount she had ordered him to pay. I received 2 statements after everything had been settled that included all her court fees. I ended up having to pay well over what my ex had been ordered. This has been an awful experience for me and I hope to save anyone else from the same fate. She will probably have some clever response to this but I have all my emails still and we both know what the truth is. There are plenty of lawyers in Peoria so keep looking!

worth every penny!

Hiring Linda Watson was the best decision I made when I was going through Child Support & Custody issues with my son's father. She means business and gets it done! She takes care of you on a personal level, unlike most who have their assistants take care of you. Always responded to my emails quickly.... I was able to get everything I was hoping for. She worked hard and it paid off. I will always, always, always recommend her to anyone and everyone!

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
