Biography
As a premier Chicago criminal lawyer, attorney Joel A. Whitehouse was trained and attended Kent College of Law where he received his Jurist Doctor with High Honors and received the American Jurist Prudence Award in Criminal Procedure. After Law School, Mr. Whitehouse spent almost 9 years as an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney where he prosecuted cases in the prestigious Felony Criminal Trial Division. In the course of his appointment as an Assistant State's Attorney, Mr. Whitehouse tried in excess of 500 cases. Joel A. Whitehouse left the State's Attorneys office in 1993 in order to join a Chicago Law firm with an established large complex state and federal criminal law practice. In 1996 attorney Joel Whitehouse opened the Whitehouse Law Firm. Mr. Whitehouse is also one of the only licensed practicing attorneys in Illinois that is also licensed by the state as a Private Detective
The Whitehouse Law Firm is dedicated to the defense of those charged with or under investigation for the commission of state and federal offenses. We are counselors, strategists, and advocates for a wide variety of individuals at all stages of criminal proceedings.
In helping my clients in extremely difficult times, I draw upon my 32 years of legal experience and skill. I served as an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney for almost 9 years and have spent the last 23 years representing clients in all phases of legal proceedings, including the pursuit of civil rights damage claims for police misconduct. Additionally, I am one of the only practicing criminal attorneys that is licensed by the State of Illinois as a Private Detective, thereby enabling me to draw upon my broad base of expertise to provide my clients with the highest quality of legal advice tailored to their particular needs. Investigations undertaken on behalf of my clients have resulted in over a dozen state and federal indictments being returned for police corruption and misconduct, and have led to the dismissal of dozens of drug cases.
