Biography
In recognition of Sarah’s skill set, she was named to the Super Lawyers list as Illinois’ “Rising Stars” in the area of Family Law in 2021, 2022, and 2023. This peer nominated honor is bestowed on only a small fraction of the attorneys in Illinois.
Sarah practices primarily in family and matrimonial law. She represents clients in a variety of complex domestic relations issues to include prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, divorce, paternity, custody, visitation, spousal and child support.
In September 2019, Sarah argued before the Illinois Supreme Court in the matter, Charles D. Yakich v. Rosemary A. Aulds. Sarah defended the DuPage Circuit Court decision that Section 513 of the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act is unconstitutional because it denies unmarried parents equal protection of law by requiring them to contribute to their children’s higher education expenses when married parents are not required to do the same.
Sarah received her Juris Doctor degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2017, where she was named to the Dean’s List each semester and was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in “Legal Writing II,” “Trial Advocacy I,” Trial Advocacy II,” and “Elder Law.” During law school, Sarah was a Legal Writing Teaching Assistant and a law clerk at a family law firm in Chicago.
In 2013, Sarah earned her Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in Children and Families from Loyola University Chicago. In 2011, Sarah graduated from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.
Sarah is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and Illinois State Bar Association.
