My firm focuses on family law including divorce, child custody, visitation (parenting time), maintenance (alimony), child support, orders of portection and appeals related to family law.
In addition to litigation services, I am a certified mediator and also practice collaborative law. I represent clients across the United States and internationally for Hague porceedings and litigation based in Illinois. I represent lawyers, business professionals and union members.
I have written more than 25 appeals and have argued before the Appellate Court (First District) and the Illinois Supreme Court. I also have successfully settled cases at the appellate level.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, I recived a Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1997. I worked for two family law firms before opening my own practice in 2003.
I am an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Forensic Forum and Womens Bar Association of Illinois.

Highly recommend
I'm a rare case of a custodial father. Annette was able to guide me through the process and ultimately help me do what I though was in the best interest of the children. It was not an easy case either due to very adversarial rel'n between me and my ex. The court actions actually went faster than I...

Highly Recommend: Strong Advocate and Trusted Advisor
As my attorney, Annette Fernholz has been in my corner for almost 15 years, from the time of my divorce, through child support negotiations, and even now that my daughter is in college. She is effective (we won every motion), efficient (turns things around quickly and doesn't consume my time unneces...
"I have worked with Annette on both Collaborative and "regular" matters. She has integrity, reliability, problem-solving skills, and appreciation of how to help clients reach constructive solutions. I heartily endorse her."
"I endorse this lawyer. Ms. Fernholz possesses a broad knowledge of the law and excellent trial and appellate skills. She combines her legal knowledge with a healthy dose of common sense in her efforts to resolve a case. Having been her opponent, I have seen first-hand that she has the respect of the judiciary, opposing counsel, peers, and clients. I have referred friends and family members to her which is the highest compliment a peer can offer another attorney."
"I have had a couple of cases against Annette now. She can count on a fair fight with her. She is honest though and trustworthy. She's gotten very good results for clients, and is timely and hardworking. She is also a very good appellate lawyer and I've watched her argue an appeal in our state Supreme Court. Cannot go wrong using Annette, she takes her job seriously and will do everything necessary to secure the appropriate relief for her clients."
