After being sentenced to 4 months at a halfway house, I soon realized that I would be required to pay 25% of my gross earnings per pay period (regardless of pre-existing financial responsibilities) despite having to already pay $750 a month for child support. That amounted to nearly $1,200 per month ...of subsistence payments going to the halfway house before any deductions. This put me and my family in an extreme financial hardship, to say the very least; and added to the stress of already being convicted. Justyna did an amazing job at writing up a motion to have my subsistence payments waived. I had been warned not to get my hope high, that getting subsistence payments waived was very rare. It took the Judge less than 5 minutes to decide to waive my payments. I can tell you this, after going through what I went through, the last 4 years.
