Happy with representation.

I hired Mr. Schwab to represent me in court regarding child support/ spousal maintenance/ marital property issues. My case was complicated and lengthy. However, I was advised by Mr. Schwab on each step and turn it may take, on how to act in particular situation, which happened the way he had predicte...d. Due to this outcome he has earned my full trust. I am very happy with the fact that he was my attorney and with the end results. I could not have wished for a better lawyer! Highly recommended!

Horrible and Incompetent Attorney

I was warned by other attorneys not to use him especially against the high powered attorney who my spouse was using. The educational support agreement was a model of everything that you should not do in such an agreement: no say in school selection, no cap in tuition, no limit set on expenses that ca...n be incurred (everything had "guidelines" that turned out to be meaningless to the judge. To top it off, because my agreement was written so poorly written, maintenance didn't end when it was supposed to. One attorney told me that "you don't want to live with an agreement negotiated by Van Schwab." "He doesn't seem to be on top of things." One of the biggest mistakes I ever made was remaining with him.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
