I concentrate my practice in the business and franchise law. I am experienced in helping clients avoid disputes before they happen. But when they do, I use my years nearly 25 years of experience to resolve franchise, business, corporate, real estate and employment disputes in state and federal courts as well as through arbitration and mediation.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in political science from Northwestern University and my J.D. from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri, where I was a member of the Washington University Law Quarterly and recipient of the Gerald K. Presberg Scholar in Law Award. I am co-author of “Franchise Renewals: Considerations for Franchisors and Franchisees,” 19 Franchise Law Journal 2 (Fall 1999) and was a speaker at the Chicago Bar Association’s 2008 “Fundamentals of Franchising.”
I am admitted to practice in the states of Illinois and Missouri. I am a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and a member of the American Bar Association and its Forum on Franchising, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.

Excellent transactional attorney
Michael is an experienced attorney with a deep knowledge of the law. He has assisted me on many occasions in franchise and litigation matters. He demands explanations rather than answers. He is prompt in returning my calls and emails. I recommend him overall.
