Joan Marie Fenstermaker

We were referred to Joan by the Metropolitan Tenants Organization. We were dealing with a management company that was ignoring the City of Chicago ordinances and doing what ever they wanted. The rent was always paid, the condo was very well maintained, there was no reason for these entities to behave... the way they did. Joan did some research and found other more serious violations we were not aware of. We attempted to work it out with the management company but it was clear they were both ignorant and unwilling to work with us. At that point we contacted Joan again and asked for her help to stop the illegal eviction threats. We met with Joan and we had a couple of important questions. Did she think we had a case against the management company? How long would this take? Joan told us she wouldn't take on a case she didn't think she could win. She also explained to us it could take time. Trusting her judgement we went ahead and sued the management company and won. It did take time, as Joan informed us, but we were aware of this fact. It took a while because the management company and condo association ignored repeated requests to respond. We are very happy with the award, extremely happy with Joan and highly recommend Joan to others. Professional, friendly, glad we managed to find the right Attorney for what we were dealing with. I hired Joan back in march of 2012 to help me get my security deposit back. My previous lanlord didn't notify me that they were planing on keeping my security deposit as a whole or portion. So I contacted Joan and she sent them the paperwork, within a few weeks they offered a settlement amount. So I ...was able to recoupe double my original deposit plus my attorney fees, which is standard in Illinois. She was very helpful, knowledgeble and friendly. In addition she was very fair with the fees as well. I liked the services she preformed so much that in my pursuit of purchasing a home, I chose Joan to help guide me along in the process. Turns out the contract with the sellers wasn't in my best interest so I decided to cancel it. But with that being said I will continue to use her services and refer her to anyone that I know that needs a real estate attorney.

Joan did a excellent job helping me purchase my condo. My condo was not easy to purchase because there were many complications with the seller. Joan did a Great job of keeping me aware of my options. Further, she did a great job of advising me on legal issues. She also did a great job of expressing h...er legal opinion but at the same time respecting my decisions.
