Joan was great to work with during a long drawn out process of breaking my lease early and getting my security deposit back. When I got a new job in a different city, she was an excellent resource and consulted with me on my options for breaking my lease. Later I returned to her after my landlord did... not return my security deposit, and Joan did a great job of advocating to help me reach a settlement. I would absolutely recommend her to any tenant wanting to understand their options in dealing with a difficult landlord!

Joan was very helpful with a frustrating landlord situation. I contacted her through this site after I did not receive my security deposit back. The landlord and his attorney made the process long, convoluted, and drawn out. Joan was persistent, patently and promptly answered my questions, clearly e...xplained my options as we went along, and explained everything that was going on. She went to great lengths to obtain information and witnesses to support my case (I unfortunately wasn’t the first to have a terrible experience with this landlord). Ms Fenstermaker can help people who had very limited knowledge about landlord-tenant law and had a landlord trying to take advantage of foreigners like me. After I moved out I received a letter from landlord asking for unreasonable amount of money and threatening to file lawsuit, Ms Fenstermaker quic...kly identified what the landlord’s intention , helped us better understand our situation and responded back and forth to the landlord’s irrational requests, eventually my roommate and I got the result we need. During the whole process Ms Fenstermaker is knowledgeable, responsible and easy to work with. I would recommend her to anyone who had a similar situation.

Long story short, we quickly found out that our landlord and his daughter were real jerks after moving into a new apartment. They had no respect for our legal boundries and privacy. We found ourselves victim to retaliatory acts and harrasment after merely asking the landlord fulfill their legal oblig...ations under the lease. Joan was able to find faults in our lease in combination with the landlord’s legal violations that we had documented. We got out quickly and eventually they agreed to settle. It took almost a year for the settlement but that’s how these things go. We think it just took that long for the landlord to get past their denial and realize that they had inevitably f***** themselves. If your landlord is in the wrong and you need help, Joan will make them pay!

Ms. Fenstermaker was extremely understanding, knowledgeable, & straight forward with our case. The landlord who was very greedy, refused to return our security deposit. Due to his inexperience of being a landlord, codes were violated. We did get our deposit back & more. Excellent representation fr...om Ms. Fenstermaker!
