Settled for Next to Nothing

I got a letter from my ISP concerning copyright infringement from a company that had been known as a "copyright troll" . I contacted several lawyers that were familiar with these sorts of cases and they were either extremely aggressive in their approach to the company or extremely aggressive and impe...rsonal in trying to get us to hire them. I came across Jeff because he is known as a leading expert in drone law and also an esteemed lawyer in cases concerning copyright infringement. The fact that he was an expert in an area of law (so much so that the nytimes quoted him in one of their articles) made me feel like he wasn't just a lawyer who wanted to get as many clients as he could. To me, being an expert in an aspect of law, meant he was pursuing excellence and expertise, and wanted to really know his stuff, and wanted to be really good at it. So I contacted him. About my case: it concerned some pretty sensitive information and my current financial situation is pretty dire, due to years of mental health issues. During the initial consultation, Jeff was extremely attentive, kind and sensitive to the specifics of my case and my personal life. I cannot say the same about other lawyers, who always seemed to be in a rush and seemed to only think of my in terms of dollar signs. Jeff took over 30 minutes talking to me about the case, different approaches, outcomes and the many complexities of dealing with a "copyright troll" like this, and eventually, the approach he said he would take which would have the best likely outcome, would be to settle under terms of financial hardship. He said he had similar cases where he settled for $0 because of financial hardship. I did not believe this was possible, in my mind I had already started to prepare for an outcome where I may have had to pay tens of thousands of dollars - which would have been financially devastating to me - but I thought this was the best approach, that would result in the least amount of damage to me. So I decided to hire him. After contacting the company, their initial settlement offer was in the multiples of tens of thousands. I was expecting this, from all the research I did, so I wasn't surprised. After about a week and a half, where I contacted Jeff and his aids via email, gave him all the financial documents he needed to make my case for financial hardship, and discussed settlement amounts, Jeff emailed me and told me he settled the case for only a few hundred dollars. That amount was his first and only counter offer. The time between hiring Jeff and signing the settlement agreement was 10 days. The company agreed to his initial settlement offer on the first day. I believe the case settled so quickly and for so little because Jeff is known in the copyright infringement world and he has a stellar reputation, and the company probably didn't even feel the need to counter offer or look further into my financials, because they knew Jeff is a straight shooter, and he isn't going to put his reputation on the line to lie about my financials. I've learned that in legal matters, your lawyer's reputation matters. If you have a lawyer with a stellar reputation, it puts you at a great advantage in the eyes of whoever you are facing, whether you are the plaintiff or the defendant. Overall, I cannot recommend Jeff enough. The case ended far better - and faster - than I ever could have imagined. And working with Jeff has been similar - better than I even imagined. He was patient when he needed to be. Extremely, sensitive, understanding and kind. I felt like he was on my side, and wanted to defend me, especially given my financial situation. But when it came to the case, he was extremely fast. After the consultation we contacted each other via email, and he always responded on the same day, usually within a few hours, he explained his approach clearly, gave me clear guidance, and always set realistic expectations. I don't know what more I would want in a lawyer 10/10

Copyright infringement case

When I first received the letter from my ISP that I was being sued for copyright infringement I thought that it must be a mistake. A scam or something. These kinds of things have not happened to anyone that I know. Strike 3 holdings was saying that some of their movies were downloaded and distributed... by the IP address that I own. Not knowing the names of or how many movies this was I couldn't understand what was going on. When I googled the penalties for copyright infringement I was petrified. I was only given 2 weeks to file an objection. After much research I decided to ignore it. Thinking that they may not bother going after me. But after a week I started to really worry that if my ISP gave my name and address to Strike 3 then I could be in serious trouble. And then they would have my identity. That's when I looked up attorneys that have handled these cases before. I decided to go with Jeff Antonelli and his law firm after seeing nothing but excellent reviews. I first sent Jeff an email explaining my situation. He answered it very fast. Much to my surprise. I then talked with Jeff about my case. The free consultation really impressed me and talking to Jeff was like talking to one of my best friends. He calmed me down and relieved a ton of stress. He was very compassionate and didn't promise anything ridiculous like getting this dropped or telling me it wouldn't cost me anything. But was hopeful that the settlement would be something I could afford. He charged a flat rate which I agreed to. trying to settle this on my own with people that I knew nothing about was just too scary. Sorry for the long explanation. The case ended up being settled for much less than it could have been. I won't give figures but when you are facing a possible fine of thousands of dollars and you don't have that kind of money it can be extremely stressful. I would recommend Jeff and his law firm to anyone who is going through this. Normally I may have talked with a few lawyers but I had such a positive vibe when talking with Jeff I just felt like he was the best lawyer for this situation. I can't thank Jeff and his team enough for being there for me. Katrina an Ed were also excellent. They will fight for you and that's all you can ask a law firm. Thank again for all you have done.

What a relief! :)

Today, I received a Cease & Desist letter, which included the threat of litigation, from a movie subscription company I may have been a part of 10 years ago. I nearly had a heart attack reading all of this. I gave Mr. Antonelli's offices a call, and Edward, the law clerk, gave me some initial orienta...tions that greatly calmed me down. Following his instructions, I set up a free consultation, and called Mr. Antonelli. Mr. Antonelli calmed me down even further by exlaining what exactly was going on, and gave me concrete options I could follow. I still haven't decided on my next step, but at least I have a rudimentary plan going forward. If it is necessary that I procure representation for this matter, I will definitely consider Antonelli and his team. Thanks again, Jeff! :)

Great Outcome

Like most of the reviewers on here I was attacked with this horrible lawsuit as well from Strike 3 Holdings, very scary stuff if you don't know what the heck is going on and finding out those lonely days of 3 to 8 minutes would cost you nearly $27,000. After having a consultation of great extent I h...ired Mr. Antonelli to take my case on and was perceived as a guilty defendant by these "leeches" and they wanted everything and did not care if you are left out on the streets begging for spare change as long as they got their money out of you. I settled a little over the amount I was willing to pay them, in my profession I would have given them what they initially asked for but Mr. Antonelli assured me that it would not be the best way to approach those "leeches" my words not his. With that being said, I have to agree with some of the reviews about the communication part as it can be hard getting Mr. Antonelli on a call, but his paralegal Katrina always responded immediately and was very empathetic with my frustration. Communication with your attorney is priority in a situation like this one I felt as if the paralegal should not have to deal with stress of emotional clients with a case like mines or any case with the content of adult pornography. This was the most embarrassing situation I have ever had to deal with. I would recommend his services again, please keep up the great work. Thank you again Jeffrey and Katrina for the hard work.

Relief and Defense against Fraud

Jeffrey and Katrina went above and beyond to protect me and my family when an illicit company somehow received our IP address and filed a suit for which we had no way of proving wasn't true. We didn't even know how they got our information in the first place. Jeffrey and Katrina were ...both very kind and reassuring which was critical in helping us focus at the issues at hand and were readily and frequently available to help guide us through this time, and we've never even met in person. What would've been an insurmountable fraud claim was still expensive, but manageable for us - a sense of security we can't thank Mr. Antonelli's firm enough for. Would definitely recommend.
