Biography

As an honest and caring criminal defense attorney focused on minimizing your criminal record, either presently or from years ago, I genuinely care about preserving and/or restoring your rights and will fight hard for you!

I strive to provide caring and ethical zealous representation to all of my clients, whether they are charged with a small misdemeanor offense or one or more serious felony crimes. I promise to give each client my complete attention, from pre-arrest advocating to post-sentence advice/representation.

My goal is to minimize, even erase (when possible), past criminal arrests, sentences and/or convictions so that each of my clients can continue to move forward with his or her personal and professional goals in life. I provide expungement, sealing and clemency petition representation statewide.

I firmly believe in our country's 2nd Amendment and do this type of work so that Illinois citizens can exercise his or her rights in this regard. Once forfeited, gun rights/privilges in our state are rarely (if ever) automatically restored, so I help people navigate this process as is necessary.

Phenomenal attorney for sealing your record

Date 12/2/2015 I want to start by thanking attorney Jorie Johnson for taking on my case and for helping to get my record sealed. I will forever be grateful. When I was a teenager, I was charged with intent to manufacturer and deliver cannabis. I wasn’t familiar with the system or how it worked, s...o I just dealt with the charge and tried to go on with my life. As it turned out this charge was a class 3 felony. I quickly found out that felonies are something you carry with you for the rest of your life. I thought my life was over. In January of 2014, a law was passed that allowed people to have their records sealed for charges similar to my own. I immediately started looking into how to start the process and have my record sealed. I tried working with a few other lawyers, but the relationships did not work out. I continued to search until I came across Ms. Johnson. I was hesitant at first due to my experiences with previous lawyers and because she was 45 minutes away from where I live. I contacted her and explained my situation. Without hesitation she was eager and happy to take on my case. She was honest with me by letting me know that this would be the first case filed since the law passed and that it would be a battle to try and win. This didn’t scare her she was ready to fight on my behalf. Not only did she work hard to do what she had to in court, she always stayed in contact with me and let me know where we stood. Whenever she heard from the courts or had new information regarding my case, she notified me. She was consistent in everything she did, she never missed my court dates and she always fought for me. A little over a month later, Ms. Johnson called to inform me that she was on the website for records and noticed mine was no longer showing. This alarmed her in a good way as it could mean my record was sealed after all. Once she investigated further she quickly contacted me to share the news that my record had been sealed after all. My case was the first case to be filed in order to have my record sealed after the new law passed. She took on my case and worked diligently to represent me and fight for me and she was successful. My record has been sealed. She should be incredibly proud of this achievement and it is something for which I am eternally grateful. I highly recommend attorney Jorie Johnson. Picking up the phone and calling her was the best decision I made.
