Emily Ann Hansen

Ms. Hansen represents individuals in all aspects of family law including distribution of assets, child custody, and visitation disputes, child support and maintenance issues, civil unions, valuations of business interests, post-decree issues, paternity cases and other matrimonial and family related matters and proceedings in DuPage, Cook, and Will Counties.

Ms. Hansen joined Bennett Law Firm, LLC as a Law Clerk in May 2011. Upon obtaining her Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in December 2012, Ms. Hansen was made an Associate Attorney at Bennett Law Firm, LLC.

Ms. Hansen graduated with cum laude from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Arts in History with double minors in Political Science and Paralegal Studies. Upon obtaining her degree from Illinois State University, Ms. Hansen attended The John Marshall Law School. While in law school, Ms. Hansen competed in the National Veterans Law Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition in Washington D.C. She was the Lead Production Editor for John Marshall’s Journal for Computer & Information and Law, and was published in the Journal in 2012. She is the recipient of the George Trubow Award for Scholarly Writing. Ms. Hansen is a four-time CALI Award Winner in the areas of Family Law, Payment Systems, Products Liability and Federal Income Taxation.

Ms. Hansen was a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Ronald F. Bartkowicz in the Law Division for the Cook County Circuit Court, writing opinions and bench memoranda. Further, Ms. Hansen gained valuable courtroom experience and sharpened her litigation skills while she was a 711 Intern at the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office. She successfully tried several bench trials, and one jury trial resulting in guilty verdicts.
