Allen S. Gabe

I consulted with Allen on updating legal information on our business. He was incredibly helpful and direct with the steps that needed to be taken. I would consider Allen a subject matter expert in his field with confidence in his decision making. He followed up on our process to make sure it was goin...g well. Additionally, his office in Schaumburg served as a great meeting location.

I was looking for an attorney with honesty, integrity, empathy, among other things, and I was sold on the initial consultation. I wish I was more vigilant in shopping around but I was going through a tough divorce and was extremely vulnerable. I felt I was taken advantage of as the unexpected char...ges and bills kept piling up. Although I was told in the beginning that making payments was okay, and I was making payments, I suddenly get a notice to come up with all the money in five days or he no longer will represent me. I don’t have that type of cash laying around, and I was left without representation in the middle of my divorce proceedings.

Mr. Gabe sold me during the consultation in that he could and would be able to take over my family matter case. Upon hiring him I expressed my immediate concerns regarding parenting time and the need to address this with the opposing attorney, that never occured. In the span of 3 months I still do no...t know where my child resides nor was a schedule decided upon for parenting time. Secondly the charges discussed in the consult were not the actual charges I recieved. For example, I was charged for travel time to/from court plus parking to the tune of $700 in addition to his standard fee to appear in court totaling $1500 for just 1 appearance. There were also several other charges and the depletion of my retainer for "review" that never manifested itself into conversations with the apposing attorney, myself, or results. There was a lack of commuincation and I feel as though my concerns were not being heard and the service or lack there of reflects this. I understand the process can be long and dragged out but to be in the dark throughout, doesn't show professionalism or a care and concern for the outcome of my case. When I choose to seek new counsel he took it upon himself to use an additional $1200 of my retainer to formally withdraw unnecessarily as my new counsel had already filed her appearance. The lack of communication and unreasonable practices were consistent throughout the 3 months he represented me.

We closed on our house in June 2017, and Allen & Jill have been great throughout the entire process. Jill was attentive and on top of everything, and Allen took charge and made things right when our final walk through turned ugly. We couldn't be happier and it was the best money spent next to our cas...h to close costs.

Allen is the second attorney I hired to handle family matters. My first attorney, although very nice, and very cheap, but .....As the saying goes "You get what pay for". Allen is confident, calm, VERY professional, able to defuse drama, able to recognize fact from fiction, and extremely knowledg...eable in the area of family law. He and his office staff (Jennifer) are quick to respond to emails, answers to questions are in simple English and to the point, no fairy dust here. I will never use the cheapest attorney I can find again, I will stick with Allen to get the job done right the first time around.
