David G. Sigale has counseled and represented corporate and individual clients in Chicagoland and the United States. He practices general and appellate litigation with a focus in Gun Law, Civil Rights, Business Litigation and General Tort.
David G. Sigale made history as co-counsel in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case McDonald v. City of Chicago in June, 2010, which struck down Chicago's home handgun ban and protected Second Amendment rights across the United States. He was also co-counsel in the cases of Ezell v. Chicago (striking down Chicago’s range ban) and Moore v. Madigan (striking down Illinois’ ban on carrying firearms). Currently in Culp v. Madigan, he is challenging the Illinois non-resident CCL ban. He has also fought for Second Amendment rights for lawful resident aliens, those in public housing, foster parents, and those in U.S. Territories. He regularly assists with FOID and CCL issues. Mr. Sigale is currently general counsel for the Illinois State Rifle Association.
Mr. Sigale has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement award from America's Top 100 - Top 100 Attorneys. He was selected to the Illinois Super Lawyer list from 2012-2016, for which only 5% of Illinois attorneys are chosen annually. He was given the Second Amendment Foundation’s Bill of Rights award in 2016 and 2011, and the CCRKBA’s Gun Rights Defender of the Year award in 2014. He is a member of the National Trial Lawyers: Top 100, and the National Association of Distinguished Counsel, Top 1% . He is the past Chair of Programming for the DuPage American Inns of Court.
