Jeffrey E. Martin, Senior Partner of Martin Law, LLC, former Owner of Law Offices of Jeffrey E. Martin, LLC, has practiced plaintiff’s personal injury law throughout his 41-year career. Mr. Martin is dedicated to representing individuals and their families injured through the negligence of others. Jeff’s hard-work ethic focuses on meeting the needs of his clients with compassion and diligence while paying meticulous attention to the complex details of their cases. He is proud to now have his daughter, Shauna M. Martin, as his Junior Partner.
Jeff has achieved numerous multi-million dollar results for his clients, including a $5 million verdict against a hospital and resident for mishandling of a tracheotomy tube; a $4.5 million settlement against a reproductive endocrinologist who failed to diagnose a young woman's adrenal cancer; a $4.6 million settlement against a Chicago hospital for failure to monitor a tracheotomy tube; a $3.65 million settlement against a municipality on behalf of his clients who were killed after a police car struck their vehicle during a chase; a $2.9 million settlement with a hospital and obstetrician for a newborn’s brachial plexus injuries; an approx. $2 million settlement against an inflatable amusement retailer and a PTO on behalf of a 5th grader who sustained fractures (and ultimately developed complex regional pain syndrome) when an 18' inflatable slide tipped over in a gymnasium; a $1.1 million settlement against a municipality, its paramedics, and a hospital for failure to timely intubate; and a $1.03 million verdict against an obstetrician for a newborn’s brachial plexus injuries.
Jeff has successfully resolved cases turned down by other attorneys, including a $2.25 million settlement against a Chicago hospital for failure to timely diagnose and treat an infection in a five-year-old boy who was recovering from leukemia; a $2 million settlement for the death of a 62-year-old husband and father for failure to diagnose a cardiac tamponade; a $300,000 settlement for a woman who suffered irritable bowel syndrome and other complications from a laparoscopy; and a $975,000 settlement for a woman who suffered right ulnar nerve injury during a cardiac ablation (notably, Mr. Martin was asked to represent the woman after she served on the jury for one of his medical malpractice trials).
Accompanied by a physically disabled client, Jeff met with Illinois legislators in Springfield to demonstrate the injustice of tort reform.
He has served on the Institutional Review Board at Children’s Memorial Hospital, two terms on the Arlington Heights Plan Commission (including Chairman of its Ordinance Review Subcommittee), and on the Board of Directors of a nonprofit organization assisting families living in poverty. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (served on Amicus Committee), Illinois State Bar Association, former member of Knights of Columbus, Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce, and a former member of the Board of Directors for Chicago Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society for Law & Policy.
Jeff has received an “AV” rating from the Martindale-Hubble American Law Directory, indicating preeminent legal ability and very high ethical standards, has been selected as a "Super Lawyer" and a member of The National Trial Lawyers. Jeff resides in Arlington Heights with his wife, Marikay, has 3 children, Shauna, Daniel, and Alyssa, and 6 loving grandchildren.

Knowledgeable, Thorough, Precise, and Tenacious
After five years of working with a different medical malpractice firm on my case, it was time for me to seek a different legal counsel. I felt my initial attorney did not invest the time nor the effort I was promised during my first (and only legal) consultation. Last year, I retained the Martin L...
Dana: Representing you was our pleasure. Shauna and I are so happy that we were able to successfully help you and, in turn, help your family. Don't be a stranger. JEM

Case Settled!
My experience using Jeffrey Martin was excellent. All communications were handled in a timely manner. Jeffrey, staff and contractors were very knowable regarding nursing home issues. Would recommend and use his services again.
Dear John: Thank you for your thoughtful comments. It was a pleasure to get to know your mom through you, your sister, and the rest of your family. Your mom did not deserve what happened. Take care, my friend. JEM

The Attorney you want to represent you
I hired Jeff Martin to represent me in my injury case. He has done excellent job handling it and negotiating very good settlement with insurance company. Jeff is one of those "rare breed" No Nonsense attorneys who go straight to the point with you, honestly answers your questions, and actually p...

Negligence and Wrongful death in a nursuing home for my father
I used Jeff previously in a lawsuit for my mom when he was at a large law office. He was great and I really enjoyed working with him. When my Dad passed away due to negligence and wrongful death from a nursing home, there was only one attorney I needed to help me and that was Jeff. I walked into his...
Dear Sue: Thank you for your kind words. I was very fond of your Dad, "King Arthur," and knew how devastated he was when his beloved wife died due to neglect in a nursing home. As we have often spoken about, I was shocked to hear your Dad, a decorated Purple Heart Veteran, ended up himself a victim of such abuse. I do view my clients as part of my team and it was a pleasure receiving assistance from you and your sister. Ok, enough said. Start your healing and please don't be a stranger. Affectionately, JEM
"I have known Jeff Martin for many years, primarily as an opponent in personal injury litigation. He has always been prepared, professional and a strong advocate for his clients. Jeff is a credit to the legal profession. Anyone looking to hire an attorney to represent them in a personal injury matter would be well-served if they select Jeff Martin."
"I endorse Jeff. I am not a litigation attorney so when a PI case could not be settled, within the statute of limitations, I had the good fortune of teaming up with Jeff, as co-counsel, on the litigation end. It was such a pleasure to share a case with Jeff since he is a first-rate attorney who demonstrated a great wealth of litigation knowledge. What I observed, as equally important, was his very responsive, patient, kind and reassuring demeanor to the case and our client from start to finish. I highly recommend Jeff and would not hesitate to refer his services."
"Jeff is a highly skilled and effective lawyer. He serves his clients well and obtains great results for them."
"Jeff Martin is a fantastic attorney! I have entrusted him with numerous referrals and each client that I have sent to him has told me that he handles their cases with the utmost professionalism and skill. He has obtained numerous positive verdicts and settlements for my clients which they have been more than satisfied with. He not only is a great attorney, but he truly cares about his clients and their issues. It is rare that we find an attorney of Jeff's character, skill, and professionalism in the practice of law and I highly recommend him."
"I endorse this lawyer's work. Jeff's an extremely hard working, personable and professional attorney. I would definitely recommend him and/or refer a matter to him for handling."
