I am a firm believer that a person benefits greatly from having interests outside of their work. Those interests can certainly involve people with whom you work, but it is designed for fun and getting together with friends and family. I have a number of interests that I love to do: kayaking nearly every weekend on either the Chicago River or Lake Michigan (depending on the weather of course); cooking; and sewing.  A number of lady attorneys that I have worked with over the years fondly say that they learned everything that they know how to do as an attorney from their sewing training and skills. If you can tailor a suit, you can figure out how to manage just about any problem. It is all a matter of standing back and coming up with a plan first!

Definition of "Legal Eagle"
I have had the great fortune and pleasure to have legal support and advice from Angela Peters for over 30 years in matters of family law as well as real estate. Angela is indefatigable and unwavering in her commitment to examine every nook and cranny. Even when I have been ready to say "we're good," Angela has persevered to the nth. In the end, that is what I want from my legal representative/advisor. Thank you, Angela. I sleep well and advance confidently knowing you are my legal eagle. (And now she's doing pet mediation, as well!)

Child support and custody
Angela was an amazing attorney. She was quick to answer any questions I had and I had a lot. She explained everything very well and prepared you for any outcome. She not only is experienced but she's also compassionate and understanding. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is dealing with child support or custody orders.

An outstanding advocate!
She looked ahead for me when I couldn’t see straight; she was my levelheaded voice of reason when my nerves were shot; she was my steady support when my world was falling apart. When I needed the best of lawyers, Angela Peters was there.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2007.

Reprimand issued in IL, 2007
updated on 08/23/2016

Reprimand means an attorney did something wrong but may still practice law. The State gives the lawyer a public reprimand in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

Angela's comment: “Illinois Disciplinary Rule 4.2 prohibits communications when the lawyer knows or reasonably should know that the person is represented by counsel. I learned that suggesting to/proposing that my client speak with his/her spouse about divorce details (when the other party is represented by another attorney) is a violation of that Rule. I do tell clients that I am not able to suggest that they talk to their spouse about the matter at hand (custody, visitation, property division, etc.).”
