Impressive!

My husband an I had a problem with property damage caused by a licensed contractor which had filed for bankruptcy to complicate things. We had contacted other counsel and they clearly did not know how to proceed, taking weeks to respond to our inquiries. Thankfully we found Matthew! With in 24 hour...s of the first conversation, he filed the motion of relief from stay and knew exactly what we needed to do to solve our problem. He proved very pleasant to work with, an expert in our type of legal matter, and ultimately very successful! His rates may not be the lowest, but his efficiency and competency is so high that he really is the best value! I can easily recommend Matthew.

Excellent Legal Representation and Counsel for Residential Home Buying

My husband and I found Matt through Avvo as we were relocating from out of state and were purchasing a home without the use of a realtor. We strongly recommend Matt for multiple reasons. First, he provided sound advice on ensuring the title was free and clear and there would be no issues prior to us ...getting too far into the process. Second, he recommended for us to have the seller provide an updated survey at their expense since the survey was old and this was a lakefront property. Third, he was able to negotiate with the Title company and look over our owners title insurance policy to ensure we had a policy that worked in our best interest. And lastly, he made sure that our purchase agreement was written well to represent and protect us in the negotiation proceedings. These four items alone you cannot put a price on as they can be pricey issues down the road if you are not protected or if all information on the property is not disclosed properly. Matt's charges were fair and overall couldn't put a price on them because the information was better than any real estate agent could provide and it more than triple paid for what we saved in buyer realtor fees that we were able to negotiate off the price. We strongly recommend for anyone who is looking at a piece of real estate to engage with Matt instead.

Purchase Agreement regarding Contingency

Want to state up front that I received timely thorough results all without needing to go to Matt’s office right when I needed it and after we had only just first became acquainted that day. The outcome happened to be what I wanted but felt I got straight forward council and if it wasn’t going to be ...in my favor that he would have been clear about that and what options I still would have. In the end it sped up the buying process, conveyed to the seller that I as the buyer was in a sound legal footing for further negotiation reducing the likely hood of a suite, and gave me piece of mind on my decision to hold my ground with the seller. I happened to not just get his verbal legal view but received a letter from him that was a well worded legal perspective that was professional but strong that I was able to share with the seller through their agent to head off further issues on the purchase agreement. The seller the next day after was accommodating. So want to say great work Matt really appreciate it and he is highly recommended from me.

Conscientious Lawyer

I was involved in a very complicated real estate case, and Mr. Doherty really heard how upset I was about my case and offered to have weekly check-in's to review it. He was proactive and assertive in handling the case; did not waste time. He kept me informed and responded to my phone calls and e-ma...ils quickly. He did the necessary research and put forth good arguments on my behalf. He was reassuring, sympathetic and very conscientious. He was respectful and pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend him.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
