I can't say enough good things about my representation and positive outcome in my very dire situation. I first hired Joel in 2010. I had gotten two DWIs in... a matter of a few weeks. Joel researched my case, kept me informed and worked hard to achieve an incredible outcome of no jail time, minimum fine and probation and in return I entered into a drug and alcohol program though the Hennepin court system. The program was instrumental in playing a key role in my recovering. Unfortunately, a few years later in 2014 I was experiencing some hardships in my life and began to relapse and not work the program as I should. As a result, I found myself with a third DWI in a period of just five years. I was mortified and petrified. I called Joel desperate and scared from jail in the middle of the night. He immediately took my call and was there in court the following Monday. I was not even supposed to be released that day but Joel worked his magic and I was able to go home. The police took my car the night of my arrest which was a newer SUV that I still owed a lot of money on. Joel was actually able to get my car back for me when I was told by the police there would be no hope. My overall legal situation was extremely grim! I was facing a lot of jail time. Additionally, because I did not take the blood test the night of my arrest I was looking at multiple charges. As a Mom of three girls and a working professional woman, I was very concerned about my bleak future. For the next year, Joel stood by me through the entire process. He took my panicked calls both day and night. We went to court multiple times in hopes of achieving the best outcome. During this time, Joel encouraged me to go back to treatment and take my recovery more seriously which I did. I am so thankful that not only did I get back on track and start giving back in my community but Joel was able to present all of the things I had done in a positive light to both the prosecuting attorney and judge and in the end I was given the minimal sentence of 16 days in jail with work release along with some house arrest. The prosecutor initially wanted 150 days in jail which would have devastated me to be away from my family for so long. All in all, I can't say enough good things about Joel. He is the most compassionate, responsive, caring, kind, hard working, tenacious attorney there is. You would be hard pressed to find those traits in most attorneys. Lastly, I would say he is extremely fair! Never did he charge me more money after my initial payment even after we had multiple court dates, calls, emails etc. The price I paid him to represent me for three DWIs is less than most attorneys charge for one! I hope to never be in a situation where I will need Joel again, but I will highly recommend him to anyone who needs or knows of someone who needs an awesome attorney!!
