Avery Appelman is a criminal defense attorney and founder of Appelman Law Firm.
While his practice is primarily recognized for its work with DWI and related offenses, he has over 20 years of experience working with clients facing drug, assault, theft, criminal sexual conduct, traffic, and prostitution charges.
Avery's greatest strength is his ability to counsel in a way that assists clients in all aspects of their lives. His team works in partnership with clients to streamline the judicial process, thereby enabling individuals to assist in their own defense. He also recognizes the impact of criminal proceedings on those surrounding the accused, which is why he strives to mitigate the effects on clients' friends and family members.

This type of suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time, and must meet State ordered requirements. While on probation, the State monitors the lawyer's activities in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.

I have been fortunate to have known Avery for nearly 20 years. As a practicing lawyer, I have met many criminal defense attorneys, Avery’s knowledge, compassion and willingness to serve his clients makes him the greatest criminal defense attorney I know. Through the years I have referred many clients to Avery for criminal representation. I know that a referral means that my name is associated with the other attorney. I know Avery will provide all of his clients with a vigorous knowledgeable defense. A factor I look for in criminal lawyers is their availability, it is critical. Some lawyers don’t make time in their day for their clients. Avery is unlike these stereotypical lawyers, Avery he is a very down to earth guy; Avery is easy to feel comfortable around, open up to and work with. Avery partners with his clients, develops an action plan and encourages his clients to help them help themselves. I believe that Avery has a true calling for being criminal attorney.

I have known Avery Appelman for nearly five years, both professionally and socially. As an attorney I am well aware of and appreciate the trust that a client places in his attorney and that attorney’s advice, especially one as important as a criminal-defense attorney. Which is why if a client or acquaintance presents me with a situation that I believe is one in which Avery can offer guidance and advice, I do not hesitate to refer to Avery.

I have been an attorney licensed in the State of Minnesota for 14 years. I have known Avery Appelman for over 22 years. In my estimation, Avery has shown a high degree of skill, thoughtfulness, preparation and professionalism in preparing his cases for trial. He is one of the most intelligent, creative, caring advocates for criminal defense in Minnesota. To Avery’s credit he has won a reputation as a skillful negotiator for plea agreements, sentencing and outright complete dismissals. I have and continue to endorse Avery Appelman for his good work on his criminal defense cases and for his passion for his clients. Avery fights very hard for his clients rights… because he cares for his clients. Jeffrey R. Peterson
