About Betsy
Biography
Betsy's interest in the music industry was sparked while clerking at a record label in New York City. Following her graduation, she moved to Los Angeles and clerked at a law firm with an emphasis in the entertainment industry. She returned to Minneapolis in 2010.
Prior to joining Bernick Lifson, Betsy worked at Friedman Iverson, PLLC worked with small businesses and corporate clients in the wedding, music, scientific, and creative industries. Today, Betsy helps entrepreneurs launch their businesses, draft and negotiate contracts, and manage their intellectual property.
In her estate planning capacity, she works closely with individuals and couples to draft documents that meet their estate planning goals and objectives. In addition, to drafting documents that meet her client’s needs, she also incorporates Health Care Directives and Powers of Attorney. She has also has experience in drafting Antenuptial Agreements, representing both the party with the assets or reviewing the documents for the party without significant assets.
Helping people is Betsy’s life passion and she accomplishes this goal by integrating her legal knowledge with the facts, as presented, to prepare meaningful documents for her clients.
In addition, Betsy is the chair of the MSBA Arts & Entertainment Section, and speaks locally and nationally about intellectual property and licensing – particularly in the wedding and music industries. Betsy also sits on the board of directors for Rock the Cause, a local non-profit. .
Betsy enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her dog Hugo, exploring the Twin Cities ever-evolving restaurant and music scenes.
