My savior

I have been going through a very difficult divorce that took six years. I had an attorney representing me, but she just kicked the ball for a temporary Di Novo two years later. Then, after two years, i went back right into a custody battle again. I was emotionally, physically and financially drain f...rom having a temporary custody of my four girls and no child support for a year and a half, mortgage and all the other bills that i had to face. I was desperate, traumatized and alone with my four girls. I tried the best i could, but i was failing miserably in facing all my obligations along with an ex-wife whose life mission was to make me suffer... I contacted many lawyers. But then when Travis came along, he was the answer and the one who helped me get my life back together. He is simply exceptional and handled my case in a way that i didn't think possible, at an affordable price as well. He worked out a payment plan that did not hurt me and my obligations and handled this case as his own. I would definitely recommend Travis to anyone who needs help in a divorce matter, because he will win and help you get your life back for sure. Having him is having certainty and SLEEP on your side.

Tavis does not have a code of ethics

Travis agreed to be my attorney in a family divorce case. My wife has been being very vindictive and I have been treated very unfair. My wife has moved a full-blown domestic abuser into our home with my child. Travis took a retainer from me and then two weeks later I was beaten unconscious. I have ...been having a heck of a time with everything going on. Travis was the one that told me to move into the situation that left me with a broken foot. I was told on Wed after him being my attorney for two weeks he was walking away from the case. As I stated I didn't want to speak with him after the way he treated me. He knows there's a domestic abuser who is on bail in my home. Walked away! There is no code with Travis, his arrogance has definitely shown itself.

Brilliant

I have been trying to tailor feedback suitable to the caliber of attorney Travis is and find myself repeatedly failing in the word department. I was trapped in a two year divorce stall... exhausted physically, emotionally and financially. Travis has done more in the month that he has been handling ...the case than my previous attorney had in two years. He is congenial, professional, and legally aggressive. Be warned. Travis is brutally honest. If you are looking for a speakeasy sugarcoater then you are with the wrong attorney. Travis will tell you the truth, give you honest options...and even how you (specifically me) contributed to the situation (and guide you -specifically me- to correcting it). He is nothing short of brilliant in his understanding of the legal process. Any individual going through a family law situation is a fortunate person to have Travis Thompson represent them.

I would not Recommend... Poor Invoicing and Poor Business Practices

I hired Mr Thompson in June... He seemed very knowledgeable, but was very poor at responding and doing things in a timely manner - for example when I would call on the status of the filing of my divorce petition, that I had thought was filed weeks prior, it turns out it was never filed... in the long... run the respondent answered late and Mr Thompson stated that he had just saved me money by not filing, but it was more the principle that he said he was going to do something and then did not. At the end of July and beginning of August - I started asking for an itemized invoice so that I knew where I stood in regards to hours and my retainer. I finally received an itemized invoice at the end of October. On this invoice he charged me almost $1400 in fees for text messages. I feel that this was pretty ridiculous, especially if I had been aware of his texting/fee practices I would have not accepted any text messages. I tried to tell him that I no longer wanted his services the day that I received the invoice. I was pretty angry, and felt like they were hidden fees especially because I had been asking for a statement for almost 5 months. He told me that he would not admit any excess in invoicing or fees, but offered some pro bono hours because he "wanted to see this case through". The week before once of my hearings I was finally forwarded the discovery request from opposing counsel (that had been dated a month prior) - this lead me to believe he had this discovery request almost a month before passing it on to me. Additionally - I was unaware of what documentation I was to provide the mediator until THE DAY BEFORE the hearing, when the office manager forwarded me a letter that she had sent to Mr Thompson almost 30 days prior. I do not understand why this is information that was not shared with me. If you Hire Mr Thompson, while he might be a talented attorney (I never got to find out) be wary of his invoicing and business practices. (I had paid him about $3704 total, and he claims I only paid $3404 - where is the missing $300? ) I feel like nothing was successfully accomplished.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"I have known and worked with Travis for more than four years. He handles each of his cases with great diligence and creativity. I have been impressed by how he presses every angle, every possible claim and defense, until he is either certain that it cannot aid his client or until his argument is as sophisticated and honed as possible. Travis specializes in providing results to "smaller" clients; to businesses and families who want their disputes handled with common sense and compassion as much as by technical legal expertise. He has a touch for bringing a sense holistic justice into the case. This gives judges and mediators the impression that siding with Travis's clients is right thing, rather than simply choosing the cleverest lawyer. In cases about families and their businesses, this is key. Judges frown on trickery in these contexts, so Travis weaves the legal arguments into the whole story of the case. This is a rare skill, and one to be prized by the little guys."
