John Louis Haslam

I was very fortunate to be introduced to John Haslam of Wilson Law group when I was decided to do my estate planning. He was highly recommended. Attorney Haslam met and spoke with me at length, for no charge, about my goals regarding my estate. It was a very good thing that I talked with him as estate law is complex and I might have made uninformed decisions that would have negatively impacted my assets if I had tried to do the planning myself. When I asked Attorney Haslam to assist me he set up several meetings and listened carefully to the specific plan I had in mind. He then prepared several trusts for me (revocable and irrevocable). These are very detailed and fully cover every aspect of my estate. They follow my wishes exactly. I was surprised at how complex the trusts are. Absolutely nothing was omitted. Attorney Haslam and his team helped me in transferring some of my assets into the trust. There were other steps I needed to take myself, such as opening a trust bank account. I was provided with a clear instruction letter on how to accomplish this, and a Certificate of Trust to present when needed. (My bank's legal review staff were impressed that the information I brought them was set up so clearly, in exactly the format they needed.) The trusts were given to me in a portfolio with sections clearly marked so I could easily locate information. I was told by Attorney Haslam he wants me to contact him if I have questions or am uncertain about how to proceed on anything rather than have me worry about what to do or take an action that is contrary to the trusts requirements. He does not bill for this. In addition to my trusts, the portfolio includes a number of other sections. One section is an emergency section for my trustees on the steps to take when I am no longer able to act on my own behalf. Instructions include encouragement to contact Attorney Haslam for any support they need. The portfolio I was given also provides sections for a pour-over will, healthcare power of attorney, a living will, memorial instructions, distribution of personal effects, and other information. This is so helpful to have. Attorney Haslam set me up with Legal Vault, which provides secure access to information in case there is a medical emergency. His law group also presents seminars which provide education for their clients and trustees. Overall, I am reassured that every aspect of planning my estate has been taken care of because of Attorney Haslam's expertise. I know I may sound like a paid advertisement for him. I'm not. The cost of setting up my estate trusts was not insignificant, but in the big picture, protecting everything I've worked all my life for was so important to me that it was well worth it!

Attorney Haslam went through the process very thorough and precise. He made the process very simple and easy for me to understand. I would highly recommend him for estate planning.

We have previously had a lawyer. He was difficult to work with and, in fact, our children asked us to change because they didn't understand him very well. We did ask my brother-in-law who they used. He suggested Wilson Law Office. When I contacted them, I asked for someone who was younger so that our children could work with the person after my spouse or I passed on. All of us met with John Haslam at our house. The adult children asked questions as well as we asked questions. We were ALL very impressed with his responses and his easy to understand explanations. We could easily tell, he would be our choice for a lawyer. The first meeting was a consultation. But we hired him and had papers signed very soon after.

John made the complexities of estate planning easy to understand - which is saying something. He is thorough in his work but personal in his client relationships, which is comforting given the subject matter. I have, and will continue, to refer family, friends and colleagues to John.

John has been just a delight to work with. He is knowledgeable, helpful, open, and a trusted advisor. My experience in the past had tainted my view about the value of an attorney. John has totally changed that perception. Meeting John and working with him on our estate planning has been such a relief and I look forward to many years of a great relationship with John and Wilson Law.

We met with John to set up a trust or will. After thorough explanation of the differences, he let us make the best decision for our current situation with no hard sell. The rest of the process was smooth and easy. I am confident that this document will honor our wishes.

John took the time to explain the options, give examples of people who took different routes and why. Very knowledgeable and willing and able to explain things plainly. Left feeling comfortable we had a workable plan to help pass our wealth to our heirs.

John put together my living trust which in my case, was long overdue. He was a pleasure to work with and very capable/knowledgeable.

John explained a very complicated subject (medicaid asset protection trust) in a manner that was very understandable with great patience answering our questions some of which were asked more than once. He never seemed like we were asking to many questions or taking to much of his time. Also explained everything to our children and was again very patient with them. He left all of us with a very good impression of him both professionally and personally.

John is knowledgeable, professional and great to work with. We used John to do our trust and he did an excellent job of getting us through the process and answering all of our questions in ways that it was easy to understand.

My wife & I first met Mr. Haslam at Gilda's Club, a Cancer Support Service where he spoke twice to those affected by Cancer on Estate Planning. Then my wife & I met with him to discuss Estate Planning. He was indeed Competent, Committed & Caring in guiding us through the extensive process of developing a comprehensive individualized Estate plan. I could not be more satisfied & I have since recommended his service to others wishing to secure an estate plan.

My husband and I choose Attorney John Haslam to do a trust for us. My husband was very leery to do one but after meeting with John the first time, he explained it in a very detailed but simple way for us to understand. We were then excited to move forward. We had no idea how important it was to have done and feel much relieved that we have everything in great order for us and for our family. Our family looked to John for information regarding our Father's Life Estate and the possible protection options for our personal family estate in the near future. John gave us much needed information and thoroughly explained our Father's situation and advised us as to what we should expect regarding his Life Estate in the future, as our Father's condition progresses and some of his finances become shifted to the State. For this we are eternally grateful as we are not well versed in the law. He took the time to personally meet with all of our children and explain the difficult parts of our plan to our children. We try to tell as many people as we can about the education we have received through John and the financial and emotional security he and his Law Office has helped us achieve. People usually reply with a "That's Too Good To Be True" because Lawyers just want your money and they'll say anything to get it. DISPROVED! John truly educated us and our entire family as to what all of our options were, good and not so good. He listened. He educated. He guided. WE MADE OUR OWN DECISIONS. It is truly empowering when you keep reviewing everything you planned for your future and you still come up with the same decision after the fact. We could not and would not have done any of this on our own. We won't lie. We set up a trust and for our income base it seemed quite costly. Yet, John and his entire team worked very hard for us and are continuing to do so. It is peace of mind for us and our family.
