As a business professional, I have required legal services for countless situations over my lifetime. Mostly for normal business dealings, though a few were more adversarial in nature. I did know however, not having the best attorney in this particular case would mean a devastating outcome and a tarnished record that would haunt us for a very long time. From the beginning, she was great at managing the expectations, the process and our family. Even though our emotions and frustrations would sometimes run wild due to the unjust accusations, Jody always managed to recenter us and focus on the law and her plan to succeed. Jody's experience and overall strategy in dealing with the opposition was brilliant. I was very impressed with her proactive tactics that set the stage for a favorable outcome. Watching Jody in the courtroom was a sight to behold. Measured and mild-mannered up until the petitioner's testimony became clearly disingenuous, and the lion was unleashed. In this day and age when we have so little accountability, it was thrilling to watch a dishonest person eviscerated on the witness stand during cross-examination due to their lack of integrity and vengeful actions. Needless to say, Jody was so compelling in the courtroom that the case was dismissed without her client (our side) ever needing to testify. Jody and Nick are an amazing team! They are professional, knowledgeable but also empathic and personable. Jody represented me on two cases. My divorce dragged on for years even though we were ready to come to a reasonable agreement with the other party within months of the initial filing. She... didn’t hold back on bluntly telling me “you can’t do that” or “that’s not how it works” when I was misguided - but she did the same when my ex’s filings intimidated me unnecessarily. When yet a new filing or demand scared me, she could explain in simple terms why I didn't have to worry. Thanks to her many years of experience, she knows the law and workings of the court thoroughly and also has good professional relationships with other lawyers and court officials. So I was constantly reassured and had correct expectations set - expectations that were exceeded when the final order was made! I’ve told many people that my lawyer was many times more beneficial for my mental health than my therapist, friends and family combined :) To be fair, we had a blundering opponent - who basically told the judge that his feelings should trump the law - but Jody and Nick’s assistance in navigating the years of filings and demands was invaluable regardless. It also helped that I had an organized archive of emails, documents, screenshots. For example, when Jody would discuss two possible responses to yet another filing, I could quickly send relevant documentation to decide on our response. On her part, she was fast and efficient with no needless meandering - always to the point, always on top of the case. I feel incredibly grateful for her to have represented me.

I have recently used Mrs. Usow for the second time (my divorce and most recently a modification to a placement arrangement for my children) and I would not consider using anyone else when it comes to family court matters. Mrs. Usow is not only incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to family court l...aw she handles your affairs with professionalism and with your best interest in mind. She is a great person to consider having on your team when you have something worth fighting for! The first time I used her was for my divorce. There were a lot of things that I did not know about family law and she took the time that I needed to explain the good the bad and the ugly in order for me to understand. I feel she is very upfront with all of the information you need to know and tries to minimizes any surprises to the best of her abilities. The second, and most recent time, I used her was for making a modification to my children's placement arrangement. Mrs. Usow was able to help me with this as well. I appreciated that she remembered the personal details of my situation and that I was not just another random person. Mrs Usow's demeanor is assertive and professional, one in which makes you feel confident in what you have hired her to do. I was not disappointed with my choice to use Mrs. Usow for the second time as she was able to expeditiously handle this court matter with a positive outcome as well.

My only regret is not hiring her sooner then I did. For my first 2 children's cases i went to court with a lawyer who rolled over and basically because of his lack of concern/effort I got the short end of the stick. For my final custody battle with my youngest I hired Jody and she turned alot of thin...gs around from my first 2 cases and got me everything that I was fighting for this time around as well. She was on top of everything, alot of times even before I was. Shes a bulldog and knows the laws like the back of her hand. She's very in tune and ambitious. If you want somebody in your corner you can trust to fight for you then look no further. I wouldnt recommend anybody else to any of my friends and family and i hope I never have to go back myself, but if I do I know exactly who im calling.
