Disrespectul and Arrogant

Pros: He is aggressive in trying to get what you would like. He puts on a good show in court to fight for you. Cons: He is very disrespectful. He talked down to me and made me feel like I didn't know how to do life because of the choices I have made. I had to remind him about my situation most ...times I met up with him. He pretended to care about my situation as I told him many times about my family but he kept calling my kids by the wrong names. He came a few minutes late to our meetings. If you are charging me a lot of money for your time than I would appreciate if you are professional and be on time. He hurried me off one time when I was trying to ask questions because he saw he had other prospects waiting on him. I didn't feel like he cared for me as a human being .I was just another check for him. He is good at what he does, but the way he treats you isn't good.

Dear anonymous, It's very hard for me to respond to someone who doesn't leave their name. I cannot recall anyone I have ever represented in such a fashion you described. I will acknowledge that there are some who simply believe that by paying me, I should always agree with them and simply advocate for what they want. I cannot be that kind of attorney nor do I believe a good counselor at law should ever practice that way. I understand why some have a hard time accepting this perspective. Regardless, whatever your situation is, I wish you the best.

Does things his way, not yours

When I first met with Attorney Basler, he gave me the impression that he would work WITH me and fight for my mission of having more time with my son, as he was in an unhealthy relationship with his father. I presented very clear evidence of the bad behaviors from the father, which the guardian ad li...tem also found to be a concern. Despite presenting this evidence to Attorney Basler, he decided to not include this evidence in court, which although I was quite surprised about, I trusted him on. He appeared very confident to me but also condescending when I questioned why the information I wanted to present wasn't worth presenting. I understand that he is the legal professional, but he did not take into account the area that I am well-versed in, which is knowing my son and his situation. I do strongly believe that the information I presented would be important for the judge to know. The judge ultimately did not make a favorable decision for my son, and I am sure that this will impact my son's life in a negative way. I think that if the evidence I wished to present was given, the outcome would have been much different. I will say that Attorney Basler has a confident manner in court, and this may sometimes work in his favor. I cannot recommend Attorney Basler, but do recommend that you find an attorney that works with you, rather than going their own way and assuming that they know what's best for you and your loved ones.

Dear anonymous, I cannot remember a case in the last 26 years which remotely resembles the scenario you present in this review. However, custody and physical placement cases are emotionally difficult for all parties involved. Before I ever go to court, all evidence is reviewed and discussed with my clients and we agree on what should be presented and why. We go to court fully prepared and "on the same page". Simply because someone retains my services does not mean that I will agree that what they want me to advocate for is morally right or in the best interests of the child involved. As I have explained many times, my profession is full of "yes" lawyers who will do whatever a client asks whether it is right or not, simply because a client pays them and tells them to do so. I will never be that kind of an attorney. I will never take a stance when arguing to a court or presenting evidence that I do not believe in my heart is right and in the best interest of the child involved. Whomever you are, I hope you get the help you need to improve your child's life and feel free to call me anytime to discuss your actual situation and perspective.

Fighting for What’s Right

Attorney Basler represented me in a custody/placement case for daughter. From the very first conversation I had with Todd he assured me he would fight for what was right, and if that wasn’t in my favor, he wouldn’t represent me. I appreciated his integrity and respected his straightforward candor. ... Thankfully Todd always believed that what was in my child’s best interest was being placed primarily with me and he kept his word and fought for what was right. He was prepared and calculated in all his legal presentings and he made me feel confident that I would be treated fairly in a court I feared may never place a young child with her father vs her mother. I am so grateful that Attorney Basler was so knowledgeable and well respected in the Sheboygan County Courthouse. It spoke volumes to them the he was honored to represent me and that made me feel like I had made the right choice. I will always recommend Attorney Basler to anyone who is fighting for what is right because that is exactly what he does.

A True Pro

Attorney Basler was recommended to me and shepherded me through a divroce. My divorce was lengthy and my ex wife tried to throw about everything she could at me. Attorney Basler was excellent in assisting in response and always stressed the long game. He was right, and in the end, his advice prove...d very correct and I ended up getting the better of my ex wife. We never got to trial, thanks largely to Attorney Basler's work, thank heavens. Attorney Basler navigated the opposing attorney's legal onslaught excellently and through his and his assistant's professionalism, made opposing counsel and her firm look bush league. In summary, extreme professionalism, mastery navigaton of tactics, and though it thankfully never came to it, I think Attorney Basler would have owned opposing council in a trial. Highly recommended.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"Todd is a true champion and advocate for his clients. Some lawyers are reluctant to file lawsuits and take a case to trial because it means more work for them. Instead, they will attempt to persuade their clients to take whatever the insurance company's final offer is. Todd is not one of those lawyers. If he does not believe the insurance company is being fair, he will tell his client that, and is willing to do the hard work necessary to either get the insurance company to change its position or else go through a trial to have a jury show the insurance company the error of its ways."
