Does things his way, not yours

When I first met with Attorney Basler, he gave me the impression that he would work WITH me and fight for my mission of having more time with my son, as he was in an unhealthy relationship with his father. I presented very clear evidence of the bad behaviors from the father, which the guardian ad li...tem also found to be a concern. Despite presenting this evidence to Attorney Basler, he decided to not include this evidence in court, which although I was quite surprised about, I trusted him on. He appeared very confident to me but also condescending when I questioned why the information I wanted to present wasn't worth presenting. I understand that he is the legal professional, but he did not take into account the area that I am well-versed in, which is knowing my son and his situation. I do strongly believe that the information I presented would be important for the judge to know. The judge ultimately did not make a favorable decision for my son, and I am sure that this will impact my son's life in a negative way. I think that if the evidence I wished to present was given, the outcome would have been much different. I will say that Attorney Basler has a confident manner in court, and this may sometimes work in his favor. I cannot recommend Attorney Basler, but do recommend that you find an attorney that works with you, rather than going their own way and assuming that they know what's best for you and your loved ones.

Dear anonymous, I cannot remember a case in the last 26 years which remotely resembles the scenario you present in this review. However, custody and physical placement cases are emotionally difficult for all parties involved. Before I ever go to court, all evidence is reviewed and discussed with my clients and we agree on what should be presented and why. We go to court fully prepared and "on the same page". Simply because someone retains my services does not mean that I will agree that what they want me to advocate for is morally right or in the best interests of the child involved. As I have explained many times, my profession is full of "yes" lawyers who will do whatever a client asks whether it is right or not, simply because a client pays them and tells them to do so. I will never be that kind of an attorney. I will never take a stance when arguing to a court or presenting evidence that I do not believe in my heart is right and in the best interest of the child involved. Whomever you are, I hope you get the help you need to improve your child's life and feel free to call me anytime to discuss your actual situation and perspective.

Great service!

Attorney Basler guided me through the process of my divorce. He had my best interests at heart and listened to what I had to say. Attorney Basler and his assistant were efficient, communicative, and thorough. I would highly recommend Todd Basler to assist other in their future legal needs.

Son’s Custody Case

I was in basically a year long custody case with my son’s father. He took me back to court for placement of our son but he was never really around in the first place. I’m only 24 years old and I was very scared about the whole process. Todd helped me so much along the way. He made sure to inform me o...f everything going on, he explained everything very well to make sure I understood what was exactly happening, he told me what I should do and what I shouldn’t do to help my case, etc. He was very straight forward and blunt and told me what I needed to hear instead of just what I wanted. He made sure I knew the reality of the situation. I, of course, wanted everything, all placement but Todd helped me realize that no matter what, my son’s father would be getting something at the end of it and I will have to accept that I won’t have my son 24/7. It sucked to go through that but Todd definitely helped me get through it. He responded back to me as soon as he was available and always made time. I had an accident in the middle of my case and Todd even checked up and asked if I was doing okay. Todd represented my father and helped him very much as well in a case of his own so he has helped my family greatly. I don’t think I would’ve accomplished as much as I did without Todd.

Straightforward and HIGHLY Recommended

We had a tough, almost year long, divorce that involved three young children. Todd always kept the needs of my children as the number one priority. He is very straightforward and honest, whether you want to hear it or not. And because of this I never felt surprised or caught off guard. I felt informe...d each step of the way. He also made himself available as much as he possibly could. An added bonus- his assistants Christy and Christen are amazing as well! We had a VERY favorable outcome for myself and for my children. I am so thankful he was recommended to me.

Knowledgeable and Caring

My experience with Mr. Basler has been great! Unfortunately my ex and I came to a point of needing attorneys, but I am more than grateful to have had Mr. Basler to help us through this hard time. He explained in great detail of what to expect, which was always very helpful! He has been encouraging..., down to earth, and a true blessing in mine and my son's lives. I respect him greatly, and have observed much of that same respect from his peers.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"Todd is a true champion and advocate for his clients. Some lawyers are reluctant to file lawsuits and take a case to trial because it means more work for them. Instead, they will attempt to persuade their clients to take whatever the insurance company's final offer is. Todd is not one of those lawyers. If he does not believe the insurance company is being fair, he will tell his client that, and is willing to do the hard work necessary to either get the insurance company to change its position or else go through a trial to have a jury show the insurance company the error of its ways."
