Competent and Effeciant

Scott has been my only attorney for around 9 years. I heard about him from a friend who refered to him as the best laywer in Burlington (along with his now partner Michael Clark). He first reperesented me in a child custody matter. Where I got everything I wanted and expected. He has taken good care ...of me as a client for years. He saw me at court one day and offered to appear for me and said I could go home. I don't think that case was even billed. If it was billed to me, he wrote the cost of it off of my custody case when I came up short by the end. Over the years I have highly reccomended Scott to friends who have asked. One such case where a friend of mine already had an attorney. My friend said their (his and his fiancé) attorney seemed, "in over his head" and was "being overrun" by the opposition. Once they fired their first attorney and hired Scott the momentum changed and the opposition was now willing to negotiate. Scott recently had my gun rights restored and in that case he argued passionately and more than made our case. Leading up to the hearing I was worried because Scott would often play devils advocate with me, arguing profusley with me and keeping my expectations in a realistic place. I belive that is his way of making sure that I, as a client, was prepared to argue my case, that we as a team had our points locked in, and that the facts would come together in a clear way. It can be difficult to see why your lawyer would argue against you in his office, but by doing that you do not go into court with nonsensical arguments making a fool of yourself and him. Scott is respected and a professional person. In the future I hope their will be no need for me to have a lawyer, but if I do Scott will be it. I could go on and on with example after example where Scott has been good to me weather it's billing situations where small amounts of money were discussed, or an instince where he saved me filing fees by creativley re-opening a case, saving time by being effeciant with his time. I think if you are looking for a competnent professional Scott would be it.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
